Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Paul Kelly ‘Nature’ (Debut) – Paul Kelly takes out his second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Nature. It’s the 24th studio album from the acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter, who was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 1997. Life Is Fine, Kelly’s previous studio album, earned him his first #1 when it debuted in the top spot in August 2017. It also won Kelly four ARIA Awards including Best Male Artist and Best Adult Contemporary Album.

Nature is the tenth Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2018 after The John Butler Trio’s Home, The Amity Affliction’s Misery, Amy Shark’s Love Monster, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Youngblood, Sheppard’s Watching The Sky, Parkway Drive’s Reverence, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu’s Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow), Kylie Minogue’s Golden and Vance Joy’s Nation Of Two. 

#4: Hands Like Houses ‘Anon.’ (Debut) – Releasing Anon., their fourth studio album, Hands Like Houses score a new peak on the ARIA Albums Chart. The album comes two years on from the Canberra rock band previous release, Dissonants (#7 Mar. ’16). In the week of release, the band played launch shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.

#5: Morgan Evans ‘Things That We Drink To’ (Debut) – Australian country singer-songwriter Morgan Evans takes out his first Top Ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with, Things That We Drink To. The album comes four years on from Evans’ self-titled debut (#20 Mar. ’14) and features the single ‘Day Drunk’ (#37 Oct. ’18), as well as a duet with his wife, American country artist Kelsea Ballerini.

#8: Powderfinger ‘Internationalist’ – A return to the ARIA Top Ten this week for Powderfinger’s third album, following a reissue to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Debuting at #1 on September 1998, Internationalist was the first of the Brisbane band’s five #1 albums on the ARIA Charts and earned them four ARIA Awards in 1999, including Album Of The Year.

#16: Quavo ‘Quavo Huncho’ (Debut) – Migos member Quavo releases Quavo Huncho. The rapper’s debut solo album features guest appearances by his Migos bandmates Offset and Takeoff, as well as Drake, Cardi B, Madonna, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott and more. Migos charted earlier in the year with Culture II (#13 Feb. ’18).

#18: Jess Glynne ‘Always In Between’ (Debut) – English singer-songwriter Jess Glynne hits the chart with Always In Between. Glynne’s second album comes three years on from I Cry When I Laugh (#7 Sept. ’15) and features the single ‘I’ll Be There’ (#23 Aug. ’18). Ed Sheeran co-wrote one of the album’s tracks, ‘Thursday’.

#19: Ella Mai ‘Ella Mai’ (Debut) – British singer-songwriter Ella Mai’s eponymous debut studio album hits the ARIA Albums Chart this week at #19. It includes the single ‘Boo’d Up’ (#46 Jul. ’18). It is executive-produced by DJ Mustard.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: George Ezra ‘Shotgun’ – For the fifth consecutive week, British singer-songwriter George Ezra holds #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with the track Shotgun. In the UK, the single spent four weeks at #1.

#10: Halsey ‘Without Me’ – Without Me by American artist Halsey cracks the Top 10 this week on the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart. The track is Halsey’s third to chart in the Top 50. She is also currently sitting at #2 as one of the featured artists on Benny Blanco’s Eastside.

#15: Kodak Black Feat. Travis Scott & Offset ‘Zeze’ (Debut) – American rapper Kodak Black takes out a second Singles Chart entry with Zeze. Featuring Travis Scott and Migos’ Offset, the track’s chart debut comes three weeks on from Kodak Black’s first entry, the collaboration with Gucci Mane and Bruno Mars, ‘Wake Up In The Sky’ (#46 Oct. ’18).

#17: Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper ‘Shallow’ – In its second week in the Top 50, Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Shallow moves up eight spots this week to a new peak at #17.

#18: Rita Ora ‘Let You Love Me’ – In its second week in the Top 50, Rita Ora’s Let You Love Me moves up nine spots this week to a new peak at #18.

#23: Little Mix Feat. Nicki Minaj ‘Woman Like Me’ (Debut) – Ahead of the release of their fifth album, LM5, in November, British girl group Little Mix return to the Singles Chart Top 50 for the first time in over a year. Featuring Nicki Minaj Woman Like Me serves as the album’s lead single. The track was originally written by Jess Glynne, Ed Sheeran and producer Steve Mac for Glynne’s album Always In Between, but was given to Little Mix to record. The quartet most recently charted with ‘Touch’ (#13 Feb. ’17).

#40: Bad Bunny Feat. Drake ‘Mia’ (Debut) – With the Drake-featured track Mia, Bad Bunny makes his debut appearance on the ARIA Singles Chart as a lead artist. The Puerto Rican rapper previously charted as a featured artist on the Cardi B single ‘I Like It’ (#14 Jul. ’18).
