Out Now: MISS BLANKS – Clap Clap

Hot on the heels of her set at the sold out Transgenre festival and announcing her inclusion on VIVID’s Women In Electronic Music Showcase, Brisbane rapper/provocative tour de force Miss Blanks releases Clap Clap, a call-to-arms “to all the boss women with a fat ass”, and its Acclaim-premiered film clip.

On Clap Clap, which had its live launch at Brisbane’s Institute of Modern Art last night, Miss Blanks is unapologetic, asserting and celebrating her body and sexuality with her trademark sultry flow and flippant jabs. Underpinned by percussive, steamy production from her producer tomtom, the track is a commanding reclamation of power turned dizzyingly infectious, earning the single its first play on FBi’s What’s Good On Sunset this week. Its accompanying film clip, co-directed by Blanks herself and Que Film Collective’s David Fischer, sees Miss Blanks positioned exactly where she damn well belongs: on top.

Spending the first quarter of 2017 releasing a hat-trick of sultry, undeniable singles in Fuck Real SlowDrop It Low & Been A Baddie, Miss Blanks has already carved out an impressive space in the Australian music scene – and counts global juggernauts Salt N Pepa and Ying Yang Twinsamong her fans. She’s secured airplay across FBi3RRR4ZZZ, triple j & triple j Unearthed, who named her one of their 7 Important New Voices In Australian Music on International Womens’ Day this year. With a formidable, steamy live show that’s seen her support the likes of international artists Little Simz and Dai Burger, and festivals such as The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, stay tuned for more announcements from Miss Blanks soon.
