Dallas Tamaira’s stripped back Spider will ease weary hearts with smooth vocal gospel choir
harmonies and intricate interplay between guitars and organ.

After last years single No Flowers, Tamaira has followed in a similar vein to released another lush single around his recent work with Fat Freddy’s Drop. Spider is a soulful tune reminiscent of Fat Freddy’s Drop’s Hope and Dark Days from Based On A True Story, with a sprinkle of FKJ vibes.
The instrumentation is woven together in such a way that consonant notes overlap whilst they jam over a chord progression. Vocal harmonies copy this entrancing flow, creating a full sounding mix that tranquillises the senses. The best example of this can be heard in the verses, where licks and vocal runs intersect beautifully.
Tamaira likes to tackle heavy thoughts and emotions in his lyrics. Introspection and dreams of a world at peace are high on the agenda, as seen in Dark Days lyrics; “Well it’s hard to happy, in a world that’s so cruel, where the weak just get weaker, where the powerful feud, where the children go hungry, while the soldiers stand by, lay down your weapons, take hold of your lives.” that is going on in his life.

In a similar way, Tamaira contemplates in Spider how “ … life can be hard sometimes and that’s ok. For some people it’s more important to see the world for how it is rather than maintaining a constant positive outlook. We are all built differently and that’s a beautiful thing. Whether you chose to be present in the now or escape reality completely, do it on your own terms and don’t let anyone else tell you how to live your life.”
Spider demonstrates Tamaira’s musical ability growing coterminously alongside Fat Freddy’s Drop.
And with their new live album Wairunga now out, listeners will be treated to musical delight.
