Have you always wanted to be a musician?  How did it all start for you?
I got my first start on Australia’s Got Talent and then another big break with a viral video in 2017 – I think I started singing the moment I could talk – it’s always been my true love.

When did you get the song writing bug?
I think just being a lover of music – I’ve always loved and appreciated the power of a good song and always wanted to write my own songs that could have that same power. My early success was def more in the space of singing covers (AGT) so it feels so great to be releasing my own thoughts, lyrics and melodies and to have it so well received has been so beautiful.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
It’s soulful pop music I think I’d say if I had do define it but I like the idea of no limits on what genre my music falls into. I think people resonate with my honesty – I’m not afraid to talk about real and raw parts of my life in my music – I’m an open book.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I love Rag N Boneman’s sound, Sam Smith’s freedom and Beyonce’s artistry and presence.

Your new single ‘Who Gave You Permission?’ has just been released!  It’s based on some very hurtful personal experiences in your life. Why have you decided to share your story at this point in time?
I’m not sure there is a right or wrong time to share this part of anyone’s story as I never really sat down to write a song about such a tough and personal topic but once I started, the song poured out of me in 30 mins. I’m glad I’m doing this tho as the response has been so powerful and I’m connecting with other survivors and hopefully making them feel less alone and it’s making me feel less alone too. It’s been very powerful.

Is there an EP or Album on the drawing board?  What are some of the other themes of your album?
Yes the album is slated for 12th of July – it’s called Strings Attached – it’s very personal and I share lots of my journey on there from mental health to animal rights to my childhood traumas – there’s also some fun pop and uplifting happy songs too lol!

What are you looking forward to most about your upcoming shows, and what can the fans expect?
Can’t wait to finally perform these songs live and connect with people thru my music. You can always expect honesty, vocals and a cheeky fun night out at a Greg Gould show :)

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Oooh good question!! Let’s go with Beyoncé! Her duets are always gorgeous!

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
Defining what success looks like is important cos you have to be proud of how far you’ve come. Celebrate the little and the big stuff – I’ll be happy if I can keep singing for a living for the rest of my life and that people keep enjoying what I do.

With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Always be yourself and we must support each other in this tough industry. Relationships are so important, way more important than any quick opportunity. There’s room for all of us – you don’t need to step on someone else to get ahead and be successful.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?
The connection – there’s an exchange between artist and audience that is special and contagious – I love making people smile, laugh, cry – whatever emotion that music can activate in them.

What’s been the career highlight so far?
Definitely collaborating with En Vogue’s Maxine Jones – to re record my arrangement of their hit song Don’t Let Go with one of its original lead singers still blows my mind. I also have a bunch of original coming out in a movie that I wrote and performed later this year that will be a big and special moment for me.

Here are three questions your fans will enjoy learning about you.
1. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done? Jumped out of a plane!
2. What is the one topic you can talk about for hours? Music trivia heheh
3. What is the thing you like most about yourself? I think my heart. Gets me into trouble sometimes cos I love hard and am too forgiving but I think I wear my heart on my sleeve and would do anything for those I love

Finally, a few questions for some quick answers –
FAVOURITE:
Album: Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events
Artist: Beyoncé
Movie: anything with Whoopi, Bette, Goldie or Meryl lol
Place to visit: I love Italy!
Venue to play: It was a dream to play the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and Sydney Opera House with Synthony
Food: I love Mexican food!
Drink: oooh – gin & tonic!
Person in History: Beyoncé Bahahaha
Tattoo (If you don’t have one, what would you get?) I have one on my foot that matches the same as on my sisters foot – we got it so we are always connected no matter how far away we are.
