Singer/Songwriter Louis Knight is ready to heat up the charts with his new heartfelt singleBurn This All Down.” The single was released on April 28th, along with a must-watch fiery music video. “Burn This All Down” details Louis’ personal journey over the past couple of years, taking a step back from his love of music during the height of the pandemic due to the difficulty of the industry highs and lows. After feeling lost and consumed by fear, Louis was able to find his niche sound and rebuild himself from the ground up as the one-of-a-kind artist he was truly meant to be. The new song marks the first page of Louis’ next chapter of music: an emotionally charged 6-track EP to be released later this year.

The British-born, Philadelphia-raised, and currently LA-based music artist began his musical journey as a Top 7 finalist on Season 18 of ABC’s American Idol. After wowing the judges each week with his gut-wrenching vocals and lyrical storytelling capabilities, Louis was brought back as a Comeback Contestant for Season 19 where he made it to the Top 12. Upon leaving the show, Louis released his debut original singleChange– which amassed over 1-Million streams across all music platforms.

His passion and talent led him to work with music industry icons including 6x Grammy-winning mix engineer Michael Brauer (Coldplay/John Mayer), as well as talented music producer Matt Weber. Having an eclectic range of influences including Lewis Capaldi, Niall Horan, James Arthur, Dean Lewis, and Tom Grennan; Louis brings a unique and authentic sound while writing music that speaks to the universal longings of hope and perseverance.

Catch Louis live in-concert at The Mint (May 6th) in Los Angeles. And, stay tuned for his forthcoming east-to-west coast tour dates TBA.

Tell us about the meaning behind your new single “Burn This All Down”?
Burn This All Down is about me falling into a depression during the pandemic after American Idol and falling out of touch with music and songwriting. I wrote this about trying to find myself again and the frustration that comes with that.

How did you come up with the music video concept for “Burn This All Down”?
The director, Danny Gevirtz and I were trying to think of the best way we can tell this story with the resources we had. It kind of seemed obvious that we needed to burn something hahaha, It needed to be a strong metaphor for what the song is about… so we decided on a piano! And then the ideas started flowing from there.

How do you define success in this modern day?
I think there are many different forms of success. I think within my personal life, it would be being happy within myself, relationships and my purpose. The word success to me in terms of music means being able to support myself off of the songs i write and perform. And to be a worldwide touring and charting singer-songwriter. And to create an impact in the world and people‘s lives through listening to my music.

How did you reach the status you are at today?
I reached the status I’m at today, through hard work, perseverance, and self-belief and others placing their belief and support in me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without American Idol, giving me a platform to share my music with the world on such a large scale! And lastly I’d say through writing and releasing songs that feel really true to me :)

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
Growing up, I was huge fan of Freddie Mercury (Queen), Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Jon Bellion. The vulnerability and honesty within the songwriting is what I’ve always felt so drawn to.

Do you have any tips for up-and-coming artists?
Just be you, and never think you need to change who you are for anyone. Something that I sometimes struggle with in this day and age, that I know a lot of others do as well, is that there is so much focus on your “following” or if you had “viral video”… When that comes about, it’s great!! But that’s not always the reality of every song you release. It can be easy to get discouraged, but do not give up! As long as you keep creating, and putting out art that feels true to you, that is all that matters! You will cultivate a fan base!

Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
Yes!! There is lots of new music coming out so soon which I’m thrilled about. I haven’t released anything in over a year, so it’s so exciting to finally be able to share where I’ve been and the things that have been going on in my life. My team and I are also currently planning a summer tour in the East and West Coast of America and potentially a show in the UK!!

How has COVID affected you to date? What have you introduced to balance the losses from missed events?
Covid hit right as my career was starting to take off. It’s been a very difficult time for everyone in every industry. This is my first release in over a year. In light of that, I might be releasing 2 EP’s this year and going on a summer tour.
I like to try and find a silver lining in things like this, and honestly it’s forced me to grow through struggling as an artist and as someone in my early 20s. Now getting to the other end of that, I couldn’t be more excited and optimistic for the road ahead!

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
I would choose Freddie Mercury. One of the first times I ever saw live music, I was about 6 years old and my parents took me to “We Will Rock You” the musical, live at the “West End” in London. I was so enamored and stood up in my seat the entire duration of the show. “Queen” was one of the most influential bands I grew up listening to! And not to mention a once in a lifetime performer like Freddie Mercury…

.

.

Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
Some of my biggest goals include headlining at Glastonbury (One of UK’s biggest music festivals), and playing at Wembley Stadium. And in America, playing Madison Square Garden! I want to be a worldwide touring and charting singer-songwriter :)

What’s been the career highlight so far?
I think I’d have to say being able to perform two of my original songs, “Change” & “Maybe That” on American Idol!
