Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you start writing music?
Yes but I didn’t think it was possible. My mum and dad said that I had to do a trade if I were to leave school early. So I’m actually a business owner of a hair salon.
I have always written my own music. I started writing when I was 15-16.

Which music did you grow up listening to? How has it influenced your current style?
I wasn’t brought up on all that much Country to be completely honest! I was brought up on Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Carol King, Bryan Ferry and I can remember dad playing Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons a lot! I’m definitely influenced by Stevie Nicks, Cat Stevens and Carol King. The folk influence is definitely there in some of my writing. And definitely how I dress.

How would you describe your sound?
Vintage but done in a 2022 way. I think there’s elements of 70’s folk, country and western.

Why do you think people resonate with your music?
I try to write and create music that I know I would like to listen to and what would be liked by many people.

Your new single ‘Fallin’ Off The Heartline’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
“Fallin’ Off The Heartline” is a song about 2 people who may have met in freshman year/ college. They run into each other in town and it’s a story of reminiscing. It’s a very American storyline. The lyrics explain being at a game (whether it be baseball or a football game) I reference “When you’re way up high” in the last line of the first chorus as of a ball is high in the air and when you are so head over heels for someone, you’re up so high not thinking that anything is ever wrong. I think when I wrote the lyrics, I related walking on a tight rope and being so caught up in love with “falling off” that split moment when everything goes wrong. And I related that to a Heartline on a heart monitor.

Do you have more new music in the works?
Of course! There will be a 5 track EP out in June/July. And I also have about 9 new tracks that I’m thinking of recording very soon.

Do you have any shows/tours coming up? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I have a few things coming up! I’m playing alongside Lee Kernaghan, Southbound and James Blundell on the 14th of May. As far as touring, I cannot wait to take my music on tour. I’d love to do a regional tour once the EP is released!

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Cody Johnson. He is Country down to his bones and I have so much admiration for him. I love his music, his voice and the way he performs.

What’s next for you in the near future?
Release of the EP and regional touring!
I’m planning to go over to the States. I’d love to record some of my new stuff over in Nashville!

.

.

What are your longer-term aspirations?
I dream of being in America and making music. I’d love to record an album and live over there for some of my career.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?
Having people there to watch you perform is a dream in itself. When you can see people singing along to lyrics that you have written is a great feeling.

Press Release 18th March 2022 (below)

Rising Country singer-songwriter
SARA BERKI
releases debut single
‘FALLIN’ OFF THE HEARTLINE’

.

Sara Berki.

Bursting onto the Australian country music scene with her debut single ‘Fallin’ Off the Heartline’, NSW Southern Highlands singer-songwriter Sara Berki is about to make an impression.  This talented artist has a way of combining her emotionally interpreted lyrics and storytelling with catchy guitar riffs that will make you want to sway.

“‘Fallin Off The Heartline’ is a song about a younger love that had once been when two people were in college. The storyline is based on reminiscing and remembering the heartbreak and conflict they had back then.  It is a song that’ll pull on your heartstrings, if you have ever had a similar love experience”

From a tender age, Sara has been playing guitar and writing music for herself, making appearances everywhere and anywhere she could gig, with her 6 string and her vocal range that will melt the hardest of hearts.

In 2021, Sara was endorsed by Takamine Guitars and Pro Music Australia.  A year in the making, she is now on the verge of releasing her debut EP ‘Heartline’ (due for release mid 2022) which was produced by well-known Australian producer Simon Johnson (Troy Cassar-Daley/Amber Lawrence/Tori Darke/Aleyce Simmonds) and mastered by Grammy Award winning William BowdenSara had a helping hand from some of Australia’s most iconic musicians such as CMAA award winning artist Shane Nicholson in the production of her EP.

Towards the end of 2021, Sara was announced as a Top 10 Finalist for a performance spot at Groundwater Country Music Festival in a competition supported by KIX Country.

To support the release of ‘Fallin’ Off The Heartline’, Sara will be performing at Tamworth Country Music Festival in April.

Sara Berki’s melodic sounds are heavily influenced by Lainey Wilson, Caylee Hammack and Cam.  She is a true storyteller, with captivating vocals and will reel you in with her words in every song she has written making her an exceptional artist to watch in 2022.
