Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the songwriting bug?
I have wanted to be a singer since I was a little girl. Watching Hannah Montana at the age of 7 really made me want to start my career; I wanted to do what she did. 

At the age of 19, amazingly, you have been performing for most of your life. Briefly describe your journey since the beginning.
Thank you for having me; of course, I’ve had a passion for singing ever since I was little, and at the age of 7, I started working with vocal coach Bob Westbrook, who trained and discovered artists like Justin Timberlake, Olivia Holt, and Britney Spears. He took me to a competition at around the age of 9 IPOP where artists like Ariana Grande competed and were discovered, and I won first place in singing. It was eye-opening at a young age, and I’ve followed my dreams ever since. I have released several singles, and my new song just hit the top 10 on the Latin iTunes charts. It has been a fun ride.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
My sound is mainly pop, but my upcoming song has reggaeton elements. I hope they enjoy it and feel connected to the lyrics. 

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I would say Britney Spears. She is so iconic, and not only are her songs incredible, but also how she performs. 

Your new bilingual single ”Cuidado” is about to be released! Describe its origin and evolution.
It is in both Spanish and English, and I wanted it to feel pop but also have reggae elements.

Can you talk a little about your passion for both Latina and Americana music? Do you prefer one over the other?
I love listening to artists in both worlds, like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, and Rosalia, and I wanted to bring both inspirations into a song.

Is there an EP or ALBUM on the drawing board?
For sure! I have so many new songs in the works and am so excited. 

What tours and events are coming up? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I don’t have a tour coming up yet, but I hope to tour soon. 

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
I would perform with Justin Bieber. He is incredible, and I look up to him so much.

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
I want to open for a major artist on tour one day and continue to receive success with new singles. My latest song, Cuidado, hitting the top 10 on the Latin charts, really made my aspirations feel closer to coming true. 

With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Never give up and follow their dreams no matter what people say.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?  What has been your career highlight so far?
I love performing my new song Cuidado, and have had many special moments. Recently, I got to be on Good Morning Texas, which was super exciting and is one of my most recent highlights.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Sophia has always wanted to share her love of singing with the world. Sophia made her journey to Memphis, Tennessee from California at the age of 5 where she auditioned for her first show. After blowing the judges away with her performance of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” she began working with infamous vocal instructor, Bob Westbrook, former teacher to Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Lance Bass, Chris Young, Lucy Hale, Olivia Holt, Peyton List and many more! Sophia took her singing career to the next level with her performance in 2013 at various events including the Delta Fair. By 2014, Sophia won in the national competition, IPOP, and in 2017 found herself in the main showcase at the Mike Beaty Model & Talent Expo in Dallas, TX. After her many accomplishments as a young singer, she launched her path to creating original music with the support of Platinum Record music producer Marc Williams of Indasoul Entertainment, and Sony/ATV music producer Christopher ‘C-Ray’ Roberts of OnKey Entertainment! Additionally, she has been mentored by 2022 Grammy-Award Winner Autumn Rowe (Best Album for ‘We Are’ with Jon Batiste) for the last 7 years, who has worked alongside Sophia homing in on her writing skills and sound.

Sophia’s most notable hits include Kiss and Tell (2022), Close to Me, I’m Good (2021), Not That into You (2020), Beside Me (2019), and Can’t Stop Thinking About You (2018). Now, she’s thrilled to announce her first bilingual song, “Cuidado” – out May 1st!  

Sophia feels passionate about both her Latina and American heritage and is striving to incorporate both languages into her music. She also feels strongly about including her personal experiences in her music to connect with her audience. Her hit single, Beside Me, was written to encourage her fans to feel empowered and always express their individuality! Sophia is an avid supporter of the Thirst for Life project- an organization that builds wells in Africa for people who do not have access to clean water. In addition to the Thirst For Life project, Sophia loves to perform and has gone on to sing the national anthem for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Memphis Redbirds!
