This sold out show at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel had fans excited lining up down the street to see England’s Boston Manor and American band Movements perform their co-headliner show with support from Melbourne’s own Wayside.

Now, I was not familiar with Wayside beforehand, however their opening set definitely made me a fan immediately! Vocalist Thomas Davenport’s soothing voice in particular during their most listened to song ‘Shine (Onto Me)’ was a great ease into the night with their ‘Citizen’ inspired rock sound. Overall the band had some great energy and really fit into the vibe of the show to come.

Now up to the first of our co-headliners, Movements, who had the crowd singing along to every song. These guys also had amazing energy and at this point the crowd was REALLY getting into the show as the band played fan favourites like ‘Daylily’ and ‘Full Circle’ which put a bit more of a pop punk spin onto the night. Of course they also had to include their most recent single ‘Cherry Thrill’, which although is a little slower, did not dull the crowd at all, more like a nice break after jumping around for the whole set.

At this point in time I had lucky still not gotten stuck standing behind the Corner Hotel’s infamous pole in the middle of the floor, which was great news because Boston Manor was about to play.

Boston Manor began their set and it seems that the break was just enough for the fans as all of the energy came back immediately for the last set of the night. The band of course played songs from their 2022 release ‘Datura’, but also played some older hits like ‘Liquid’ minus featuring artist John Floreani (unfortunately), but the song sounded amazing regardless. Another pop punk style track ‘Laika’ was also played after the band likened it to their days playing on Warped Tour and even brought on Movements vocalist Patrick Miranda for a few verses, and you could really tell fans had been singing this song since it’s release because the crowd seemed to never miss a word. Throughout Boston Manor’s set we had multiple circle pits and even a wall of death, something I’m not used to at this genre of show, but the crowd really gave it their all and showed the band their passion.

And just like that it was all over, it felt so short, we all wanted it to last forever. This was an amazing show and even after it was over I was just wishing I could see it over and over again.
