On Friday the 18th of January, San Cisco played to Frankston’s own Pier Bandroom. This show comes as part of a string of smaller regional shows across Australia, including two other Victorian shows, one in Ballarat, and the other in Torquay. Having just come off the back of a tour with Ball Park Music playing venues such as Festival Hall, I was surprised to see the band back out touring so soon after, and playing these (arguably) more intimate shows.
‘The Distance’ started the show beautifully, Frontman Jordi Davieson’s high vocals immediately pull the attention of the jostling bodies in the clearly tipsy crowd. After a large gap between opener & main act, we were instantly revitalised by the sound of the bass.
‘Beach’ came next, the opening track to their debut self titled album. ‘SloMo’ followed. The band seemed to be racing through their tracks with little to no crowd acknowledgement or interaction. I expected much more animation from the indie quartet. Jordi did take a quick pause to introduce the band with a very simple “We’re San Cisco, we’re here to play a few tunes.”

The crowd became much more lively during the track ‘About You’, singing along with the chorus; Jordi introduced each member of the band individuals mid way through the song ‘Wash It All Away’. Unsurprisingly the band powered into the rest of the set, continuing the flow with the upbeat anthem off the bands 2017 release ‘That Boy’.
Their brand new track ‘When I Dream’ was expectedly met with some hesitation, the generation of teenagers who fell in love with the band’s début single ‘Awkward’ were all unfamiliar with the quartets newer works, but surely not for long! This track is one of my personal favourites. If this is the direction San Cisco is heading i’m here for it!
San Cisco rounded off the set with their most well-known releases (obviously!). Jordi exclaimed “This ones for anyone spicy named Isabella” right before hundreds of sweaty bodies sang out the entirety of ‘RUN’. Friends danced together to the catchy beat of ‘Fred Astaire’. San Cisco finished with my number one, ‘Too Much Time Together’. A very socially excited audience member even attempted to run across the stage, to which she was immediately escorted off the stage by security. However it was hilarious to watch & had the whole crowd in good spirits!
I had a wonderful time at the show. I left feeling nostalgic of summer days with friends in my teens! San Cisco are as always, insanely good.
