Red Bull and Splendour in the Grass collaborate for the fifth year as Red Bull Music today announces it will return to Byron Bay on July 19 for a Thursday first-night party to remember. From Splendour’s Mix Up Stage, Red Bull Music will provide a monumental kick-off to the sold-out, three-day festival, seeing early punters catch performances from some of the best musical acts in Australia. Witness the live debut of hip-hop & RnB collective The Formula (Manu Crook$, Joy, Anfa Rose, BLESSED and Dopamine), North East Arnhem Land’s Baker Boy with collaborator Dallas Woods, Sydney-via-Uganda’s SK Simeon, DJ outfit Hoops in a special superclub format, Brisbane producer UV boi فوق بنفسجي, fearless 22-year-old Jesswar, and favoured selector DJ Klasik. Serving up the visual component of the evening is the talented audiovisual artist, Ego. Having worked across some of Australia’s largest festivals, his surreal compositions will light up the Mix Up Stage and set the scene for Red Bull Music Presents: A Night With.

Leading the evening is the live debut of collective and supergroup, The Formula, comprised of esteemed Sydney rapper Manu Crook$ (endorsed by Fader and Zane Lowe), the smokey soul creations of Joy, respected hip-hop artist and producer BLESSED, rising songwriting talent Anfa Rose and production wunderkind, Dopamine. Close knit collaborators, the five-piece who equally make statements in their solo careers, combine together for a stage show set to merge their talents and heighten the evening.

Breakout hip-hop phenomenon Baker Boy (aka Danzel Baker) and close friend Dallas Woods will tear up the Mix Up Stage, igniting crowds with their fervent energy oozing confidence and pride. Baker Boy with his alluring fusion of English and native Yolngu Matha tongue has received triple j love and taken out top industry awards such as the Northern Territory Hip-Hop Song of the Year. Together with his companion and mentor Woods, the duo will be gracing festival goers with their powerful chemistry and thought-provoking messages.

Injecting the crowd with a groove-heavy singjay fix on stage will be Ugandan artist SK Simeon, supported by DJ Klasik. The festival and dancehall favourite will be electrifying the night with his high-energy presence, and a slew of international singles, including his latest infectious record “Ram Dance Don”.

Reuniting for one night only as Hoops, renowned Sydney DJ act Nina Las Vegas and Bad Ezzy will be treating Mix Up guests to a throwback mixtape of long-lost Crunk, Hyphy and Baile Funk hits. The dynamic DJ set will have the tent heaving with a one-of-a-kind RnB superclub experience matched with bespoke visuals from Ego.

After releasing his Returned Alone & LUV EPs, Brisbane’s UV boi  فوق بنفسجي will bring his hypnotising compositions to Splendour in the Grass. Loved by Ryan Hemsworth and having supported the likes of Tkay Maidza, Kaytranada and Goldlink, don’t miss the dynamic and luscious offerings of UV boi فوقبنفسجي.

Joining the Red Bull Music Presents crew is 22-year-old Brisbane-via-Fiji artist Jesswar. Having appeared at Red Bull Music and I OH YOU’s Block Party at Laneway Festival earlier this year to feverish crowds, the fearless emcee will be set to impress, bringing her unapologetic verses in tracks like “Savage” and “WOMAN’S WORLD 2.0” to the live stage.

Back by ever-popular demand and rounding out the lineup is DJ Klasik, set to select the dancefloor-fillers for the evening’s duration. His genre-free lauded approach that’s seen him a mainstay at parties like One Day Sundays and main support for artists like Vince Staples and Schoolboy Q, sees DJ Klasik make a highly welcomed return to Red Bull Music Presents Splendour in the Grass.

Returning for another fun-filled first night celebration, Red Bull Music Presents takes over the Mix Up Stage at Splendour in the Grass in 2018. Don’t miss joining some of the finest Australian music visionaries and friends as they come together, and make July 19 an opening night to remember.
