Sydney-based alternative-rock trio RedHook have today unleashed the outrageously fun music video for their new single ‘Sentimental Surgery’.
Edited by Kim Quint (Polaris, In Hearts Wake) in portrait mode, the emo party anthem’s official visuals were created during Sydney’s 2021 COVID lockdown and star RedHook’s fans from around the world, whom they invited to take part in a global emo dress-up party from home.
Lead singer Emmy Mack explains: “We were pretty hamstrung with what we could do for this music video, so we decided to invite our amazing community of fans to whip their phones out and get in on the fun. We hoped that, by embracing their sadboi/sadgirl roots, partying like it’s 2007 and celebrating how fun it once was be to be sad, it might help bring them some cheer and break up the monotony of lockdown. What we didn’t foresee was that watching all the fan footage back would actually bring us ridiculous amounts of joy at a time when we ourselves were really struggling.”
To coincide with the release, RedHook are keeping the community vibes pumping, announcing their ‘Bring Ya Mates’ national headlining tour for the Summer of 2022.

Following on from their long-awaited debut at UNIFY Gathering alongside The Amity Affliction, Violent Soho, Yours Truly, Ocean Grove, RedHook will be joining forces with some of their best musical mates, The Dead Love and Down For Tomorrow, and fuelling up the tour van to take the summer mosh party on the road. They’ll be making the frothiest of toasts to friends, fun and freedom headlining their biggest venues to date across Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth in January and February of 2022.
“Expect plenty of hijinks, laughs and surprises at the ‘Bring Ya Mates’ Tour, proudly presented by New World Artists and supported by Young Henry’s. And since we’re bringing our mates, we’ve also got special group ticket discounts on offer for those who bring theirs.”
To coincide with the release, RedHook have also donated more than $500 to Australian music industry crisis support service, Support Act, following a NFP merch initiative that saw the band release a limited run of exclusive Sentimental Surgery teddy bears, simultaneously giving their fans a burst of cuddly serotonin while raising money to help their fellow creatives who’ve been struggling during the pandemic.
‘Sentimental Surgery’ follows on from the release of RedHook’s celebrated debut EP ‘Bad Decisions’ which arrived in April of 2021. The record has already notched over 3 million streams on Spotify and earned praise from Kerrang! (UK), Rock Sound (UK), Rolling Stone (AUS), Hysteria Magazine and more, with multiple video clips being added to rotation on ABC’s Rage.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
