Following the release of their shimmering 80s inspired synth-pop track ‘Cool With It’ earlier this year, Milwaukee-by-way-of-Texas sister-duo REYNA (comprised of Victoriah and Hannah Gabriela) return with their latest single ‘Baby Forget It’. REYNA first appeared in 2016 with their glorious debut single ‘Spill Your Colors’, attracting over 20K streams in it’s first day. However, the duo were no strangers to the music scene having previously found success with their previous project, Vic & Gab, in 2011 when their track “So Long So Tired” found its way to music supervisors at MTV and was used on their hit US series Skins.

This was followed by their debut LP which received great praise from tastemakers such as SPIN and Paste Magazine and saw them open for artists such as BLEACHERS and Death Cab For Cutie. In 2014, after showcasing at SXSW, they caught the attention of Saiko Management (known for artists such as Lorde, Parson James, The Aces and Glades), who signed them a deal.

The sisters went on to collaborate with producer Drew Pearson (Kesha), and travelled to both LA and NYC which in turn changed their approach to songwriting and gave them a new set of creative tools with which to work. After recording a number of songs, they decided to give their new sound a new name. REYNA. After the release of Spill Your Colors, it wasn’t long until they were opening for the likes of CHVRCHES and released a series of singles which have so far garnered over 2 million combined streams on Spotify to date.

Speaking of the track, Vic adds:

“The song is about a former love who kept something of mine after a dramatic breakup. I wasn’t the best version of myself in this relationship and I can admit that I really messed up. That’s why I was so surprised when I saw that she would wear my jacket, I was like hmm maybe it wasn’t so bad, maybe every time she puts the jacket on she thinks about the good times instead of the bad. This song is for everyone who has had their heart broken then somehow muster the courage to put their hearts out there again. It’s learning from those sour episodes in your life and making them part of who you are like a scar you’re proud of.”

REYNA are set to open for Kesha at Summerfest 2018 and are currently writing new material for their debut EP expected later this year.
