A friend suggested that he enter his film into some film festivals including the prestigious Cannes World Film Festival. ‘I originally made the short film ‘Mr. Cornelius’ to try to express the weird creative life I was living in Prague during the early days of the Global Pandemic. I had never made a film before. I showed one of my friends, who is an actor, and he recommended I enter a few film festivals. ‘Cannes World Film Festival’ was my first entry and I managed to win 3 categories and receive one nomination. I have to say it is such an unexpected honour to sit on the official announcement list alongside some incredibly legendary artists, such as Clint Eastwood.
Best New Wave, Post Modern Film (Winner), Best Indie Short director (Winner), Best Soundtrack (Winner), Best Experimental Film (Nominee). I really can’t believe it! I feel so humbled, as an Australian music artist, to receive this series of prestige awards from such an internationally acclaimed festival. It is all the more rewarding that at a very dark time, I chose to delve into a new art form and have received internationally recognised accolades for my work. The film is set to premiere in the Grand Hall (one of the world’s oldest cinemas) in May 2022, if the Covid 19 climate permits.” Rohin Brown

The “Mr. Cornelius EP” was recorded at ‘Studio Faust Records’ in Prague, Czech Republic. Like most commercial spaces ‘Studio Faust Records’ at the height of the pandemic, was ordered to close its doors. Owner of the studio and an experimentalist at heart, Faust Mader, offered Rohin a backdoor to the space with 24/7 access for as long as the lockdown lasted with one proviso….

From the bullish Psychedelic tempo of the drums blasting off in the foreground, to the vintage Russian synthesizers softly gluing together the intricate flutters of sound in the background, The ‘Mr. Cornelius’ EP aims to reflect, in full circle, the uncanny circumstances captured on canceled time, in the heart of Prague.
Recorded in a decommissioned German Army tunnel beneath the city, the EP including lead single ‘Half-Wit’ brings a sort of toughness and integrity to each layer of sound.
“The walls have ears” Brown mentions whilst describing the subliminal benefits of recording in a 150-year-old space, when compared to a professionally sound proofed studio.
‘Half-Wit’ melts the yang arsenal of eastern European synthesiser technology with a gentler blend of western folk and country music songwriting. The lyrics unfold as a sort of nursery rhyme, telling the story of the disabilities associated with being a Capricorn – or being “born in the month of a goat”.
“The “Mr. Cornelius EP” is the first of 5 songs from a 25-song recording journey I weathered during the Global Pandemic in Prague. I was both locked out of Australia and locked down in the Czech Republic. Between the two times I got COVID, my life’s purpose revolved around extending The Walking Who’s eclectic approach to music making by treating each song’s layer of soundscape with a type of instrumental cold war competitiveness – anytime a Russian synthesiser could be used, it would be used.” Rohin Brown

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
