Serenade is setting the tone for a huge year ahead; we are beyond thrilled to be announcing the first Patron artist of 2021, Mr Bernard Fanning!
Bernard needs no introduction, one of Australia’s most loved and lauded musical talents through fronting seminal rock outfit Powderfinger to his solo works; he has accumulated one of the most celebrated and distinct songbooks on the Australian rock spectrum. A multi-award-winning and platinum-selling artist, his solo career now spanning 15 years, Fanning has firmly cemented his position as one of our finest songwriters and lyricists.
An enormous supporter and fan of local music, Bernard has made a point of consistently using his platform to give a leg up to artists throughout his career, making him the perfect Serenade Patron Artist.
For his Patron Artist Support Acts, he has chosen three of Queensland’s finest; Groote Eylandt via Brisbane’s, breathtaking singer-songwriter Emily Wurramara, who plays six instruments and sings half in English and half in her ancestral language, Anindilyakwa.
One of Australia’s most highly regarded performers and songwriters, Ben Salter, who is a founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club and the three-time ARIA-nominated Wilson Pickers, is an accomplished artist in his own right.
And buzzing newcomer, alt-pop/rock singer-songwriter Hope D, who is making a name for herself thanks to consistent touring and infectious radio tracks like her debut ‘Swim’. Her latest single ‘Second’ pulling into #69 on triple j’s Hottest 100 last weekend.

About Serenades Patron Artist:
Serenade’s Patron Artist is a monthly initiative that sees one headline artist selected to join the platform, who then chooses three support acts to pay it forward to.
For one month, whenever a fan books a Serenade from the Patron Artist, Serenade will purchase another one from one of their nominated supports, with the fan receiving two Serenades for the price of one.
Serenade’s Patron Artist initiative creates financial and promotional opportunities for both headliners and supports while giving fans an opportunity for new music discovery, as suggested by their favourite artist. Serenade’s Patron Artist campaign is about highlighting, amplifying and celebrating incredible local emerging artists.
