“The Perth four piece have delivered a top shelf album of cathartic, introspective and exciting punk rock.” – triple j (Feature Album)

“It’s a solid and complete 12 songs that will go some way in entrenching the band’s place as not only one of Perth’s best bands, but more importantly, a front runner in the Australian emo-punk scene.” – AU Review (4 stars, Album of the Week)

“Gardens is a majestic outing that pairs rock flavours with raw emotion; and, honestly, what more could you ask for in this brave new world?” – The Music (The Top 25 Albums Of 2021 (So Far))

“On their second album, the long-time Perth favourites show exactly why we’ve fallen in love with them time and time again.” – Pilerats

“Sly Withers are on the brink of becoming a household name as one of Australia’s premier rock acts.” – Wall of Sound

“Gardens is a bold, widescreen punk epic well worth diving into.” – Guitar World

“Details of suburban life imbue Sly Withers’ songs with ultra-specificity while also an undeniable reliability for anyone who has worked a crappy job, lost a loved one or made a sworn enemy of a thorny South American bush.” – The West Australian

Following the release of their breakout, ARIA top 10 album, Gardens, Perth indie rock outfit, Sly Withers, today release the brand-new video for their latest single ‘Breakfast.’

‘Breakfast,’ along with previous singles ‘Clarkson,’ ‘Bougainvillea,’ and ‘Cracks’ is a stand out song on a record full of anthems. One of the crunchier, grittier tracks on the record, it’s one of the best indicators of the band’s punk rock routes and influences, while also displaying the same dynamic, sonic swing for the fences expressed all across Gardens.

The video, directed by regular collaborator, Tim Elphick, and captures the band in a slightly stylised version of their natural state – a group of mates spending and killing time together. It just so happens those four mates have written some of the best Australian songs of the year.

After a year marked by setbacks, when Sly Withers finally delivered their new album last month to critical acclaim and extreme fanfare, it was undoubtedly one of the best stories of 2021.

After a triumphant appearance on triple j’s iconic Like A Version, the band’s sophomore album was then proudly picked as a triple j Feature Album, and as a result was catapulted into the top 10 of the ARIA charts – quite the achievement for four high school mates who started busking outside of cafes as teenagers, only to arrive years later as a fully formed force in the talented world of contemporary Australian rock.

With more tour dates and releases planned for later in 2021, the celebration only seems like it’s getting started for one of the brightest sparks to emerge in the midst of a troubled year, but if we’re to rally around one band, it should be a group fostered on comradery and support like Sly Withers.
