Splendour in the Grass celebrates 20 years in 2020! That’s twenty years of Splendour road trips, campground kingdoms, old friends, new friends, planning your set times, set time clashes, dashes from one stage to another, hikes up heartbreak hill to the Amphitheatre, meeting mates at the sound desk, late nights, dusty AF mornings but most of all… MUSIC… and all those moments you’ll never forget!
Seriously, we have a metric shit ton of #TBTs and #FBFs to get through before the fest so SITG HQ is prepping to drop the goods a little earlier than usual…
Put Wednesday 19 February in your calendar now, set an alarm for 8am AEDT and make sure your eyes are on splendourinthegrass.com and ears tuned into triple j to find out which of your favourite artists will be heading to Byron Bay in July 2020!
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE – LUCY DYSON
Splendour in the Grass is thrilled to welcome Berlin-based Australian artist, animator and award-winning music-video director Lucy Dyson as the festivals 2020 Artist in Residence.
Lucy’s residency with Splendour will include creation of the festival’s 2020 artwork, poster and official lineup announce video and you’ll also be able to see some of her work onsite at the event.
Lucy’s “beautifully detailed, unique and off-beat” (Gotye) collages have been commissioned for album covers and exhibited in major galleries, museums and arts festivals around the world including the National Gallery of Victoria, Brooklyn Museum NY, The Melbourne and Sydney International Film Festivals, The Berlin Music Video Awards, The National Film & Sound Archive, The Australian Centre for the Moving Image and now Splendour in the Grass.
A prolific artist, to date, she has directed and produced over fifty music videos. In 2016 she was commissioned to create animations for Beyoncé’s Formation World Tour (yes, Queen Bey!). Other artists she has worked with include Grammy awarded musicians Gotye and Ray LaMontagne, as well as Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Courtney Barnett, Sarah Blasko, Kate Miller-Heidke, Bernard Fanning, Paul Kelly and many others.
In the world of fashion Lucy has recently collaborated with Nike, classic UK brand Paul Smith, international luxury fashion house Hermés of Paris and was also recently profiled in Vogue Germany.
Lucy’s unique work includes images from vintage magazines, photographs, children’s books, journals and more, and inspires a warm sense of nostalgia. We couldn’t be more excited to showcase her work to our Splendour in the Grass community this year!

Tickets will be on sale on Thursday 27 February. To those of you thinking, “Holy shit, this is all so early and I’m not prepared to buy my Splendour ticket yet”…relax! Like last year, you’ll be able to purchase your Splendour in the Grass ticket on a payment plan.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
