Brisbane’s hard-hitting, high octane rock group STREET PIECES hit the ground hard in 2019 with their behemoth of a track, larger than life and twice as deadlyCthulhu, officially released today Friday 12th July. Dark and foreboding like the monster it draws its namesake from, the track shakes the ground with its massive bassline and heavy riffs, held together tightly by the group’s trademark soaring vocals and blues infused rock swagger.

Since forming in 2013, STREET PIECES released their first EP ‘The Otherside’ after working with producer Magoo (Regurgitator). After a year of cutting their teeth on the East Coast circuit the band gained commercial airplay with Triple M and supported Wolfmother on their Australian tour. 2018 marked the release of their ‘Everything You Ever Wanted’ EP and saw the band tour extensively before settling back into the studio to work on what will be their next monster release.

“Cthulhu” is the latest from the Australian rock band, produced by ARIA winner Govinda Doyle. With a sound as massive as its namesake, “Cthulhu” delivers a sonic experience that swells and breaks with an ever-heaving groove that moves you like the ocean tide. Drawing from the eternally dark riffs of Sabbath, core shaking drums of Zeppelin and chronicled by soaring vocals STREET PIECES unleash a perennial anthem fit to roam the halls of rock.

Fans can expect much more from STREET PIECES throughout 2019, with tour dates along the East Coast confirmed for August.

Numb
Gary Clark Jr

Biggest riff, biggest tone. I’d be surprised if the amp wasn’t on fire at the end of that session. There can’t be a better feeling than playing a riff like that, with a tone like that, up at Crossroads.

Literally any song by the Wombats.
The Wombats have such an infectious, fun, punk attitude to pop songwriting. Let’s narrow it down a little to Moving to New York – what an aggressive bassline. This song, like so many they’ve written, is so energetic and so rough around the edges which really makes it stand out.

.

MirrorBall
Elbow

It might not be the most rock and roll song out there, but Guy Garvey is an amazing songwriter.  The line ‘we kissed like we invented it’ would get this song in regardless of the other lyrics, which, let’s face it, are also pretty great.

.

Social Candy
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

Such a massive chorus! We’re a little psychedelic on occasion and – unlike the other songs mentioned – we might actually be able to fit this into our set. That little bit of atonal weirdness just before the chorus throws you off a little, and makes the chorus hit that much harder.

.

White Christmas
Bing Crosby
We’re not in it for the money, but with White Christmas money we could record a whole lot of music. Not sure how we’d fit it in the set, but I’ve got a plan for that. We’ll travel back in time and sell it on the sly, then head back to the present, live our best lives, and make some great records.
