Platinum-certified alt-pop provocateur Sub Urban returns with a new single and music video entitled “Uh Oh” [feat. Benee] today via Warner Records. Listen to an watch the music video for “UH OH”—HERE. Most importantly, it heralds the arrival of his anxiously awaited full-length debut album, HIVE, on June 3, 2022. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE.
Sub Urban shared, “I feel so refreshed to finally release this song, and I am beyond thrilled to start the countdown to my debut album. Benee’s presence in UH OH! gives the song a much needed level of enchantment. Though it’s a shame we never met in person, she nailed her parts in this project, both vocally and in the video.”
As if it was plucked out of a classic horror film, dark piano sets the tone before the beat kicks in and Sub Urban’s earworm hook warns, “Uh oh, uh oh, you made a mistake.” Multiplatinum New Zealand songstress Benee counters with an equally entrancing cameo, conjoining these two alternative mavericks on the unexpected anthem.
On teaming up with Sub Urban, Benee added, “So excited to finally have this one come out! I recorded my vocals in managed quarantine at the end of last year & am so stoked to have worked with Sub Urban! I’m such a huge fan of his music videos so was more than excited to be part of one.”
Channeling the vibrantly insidious visuals Sub Urban is known for, coupled with absurd and nostalgic elements seen in music videos of the ‘90s, its bright color palette, fifties family, and the uncomfortable perma-smile on Sub Urban’s face take this one to a new level in his canon. He saunters up to a seemingly “normal” home in anywhere America with “Virgil’s Chronicle” in his hand—ready to spread the good word and haunts a family as they attempt to contact the police, only for Benee to answer the phone.
It only continues a hot streak ignited by the likes of “INFERNO” [feat. Bella Poarch], and “PARAMOUR” [feat. AURORA], generating nearly half-a-billion total streams in advance of HIVE.
To date, Sub Urban has generated 1.5 billion global streams and 1 billion YouTube views in addition to regularly averaging over 10 million global weekly streams. His breakthrough single “Cradles” reached RIAA platinum status and soared to #1 at US Alternative Radio. Not to mention, he incited over 13 million TikTok creates and attracted a staggering 3.8 million TikTok followers and 4.9 million YouTube subscribers. Along the way, he has also inspired the applause of Billboard, PAPER, Genius, F ADER, MTV, Variety, FLAUNT, and more.

About SUB URBAN:
Sub Urban is no conformist when it comes to breaking boundaries within alternative pop music. The 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer born Daniel Maisonneuve has spent the last few years writing captivating, otherworldly music as a means of processing the turmoil of a tumultuous coming of age. Even on his most beloved songs, he sings about heavy themes—addiction, anxiety, and the lonely weight of existence. But as he finishes the follow-up to his 2020 debut, Thrill Seeker, he’s fine-tuned his craft into a fresh and idiosyncratic musical concoction. “My sound has shifted and grown with me over the course of this past year and a half,” he says, “but to be honest, I feel like it’s what I should have done immediately after ‘Cradles.’ However, having taken all that time, I’m more certain in my sound than ever before.” Sub Urban’s first hit, 2019’s “Cradles,” paved the path for a new generation of alternative. Buoyed by TikTok virality and a stunning music video, the song hit #1 at U.S. alternative radio and has since earned nearly 400 million views on YouTube. Though Thrill Seeker was mostly made up of songs written before “Cradles,” it reinforced Maisonneuve’s imaginative worldbuilding; he’s only just started to dream of new wrinkles to add to Sub Urban. Even with his grim aesthetic, this new era is fueled by the mania of creation—the exciting energy of ushering in a whole new world.

Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
