Grammy-nominated American R&B singer-songwriter superstar, SZA lands in Australia next Friday for her biggest headline shows in the region to date. Here for Australia’s biggest music festival, Splendour in the Grass, SZA has today announced two of Australia’s most impressive talents – JOY. and KAIIT will be joining her in Sydney and Melbourne, respectively.

Final tickets for both shows are on sale now – for complete tour and ticket information, visit: livenation.com.au.

JOY., the project of 18 year old producer/singer Olivia McCarthy, burst onto the scene with her debut single ‘Captured’ in 2014, previously having only uploaded a cover she recorded on her phone, the track amassed an impressive amount of attention from top blogs and radio stations the world over. School student by day, beatmaker by night, JOY. worked tirelessly on new material, whilst at the same time rubbing shoulders with local heavyweights The Kite String Tangle, Basenji, Cosmo’s Midnight, and most recently Peking Duk as part of their ‘Like A Version’ for the opening of Aus Music Month on triple j. JOY.’s attention now turns to the live frontier, a multi-instrumentalist JOY.’s one woman band is bound to give you goosebumps.

Hailing from southeast Melbourne, KAIIT has been singing for as long as she can remember. Born in Papua New Guinea, the young songstress bounced back and forth between Australia and her homeland before her family eventually settled down in Melbourne. She grew up listening to alternative music, with her parents embracing the likes of Pink Floyd. Blessed with an enchanting voice that crosses musical boundaries, her love for jazz and neo-soul is evident in her music, drawing upon inspiration from her idols Amy Winehouse, Ms. Lauryn Hill and the contemporary sounds of Noname Gypsy and SZA. Her inimitable style and edgy aesthetic is present on and off stage.

Having recently sound-tracked the final season of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ season in the lead single from “For The Throne: Music Inspired by the HBO Series ‘Game of Thrones’, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, SZA confessed to having no problem channelling the kill-’em-all energy of the show’s fiery Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen (formerly known as Khaleesi). Influenced by avant-garde jazz, alternative rock, and hardcore rap, American singer/songwriter SZA has become one of the most seminal voices in modern R&B, a genre-blurring force akin to contemporaries such as Jorja Smith, Solange, H.E.R., Kehlani and Brent Faiyaz.

The five-time Grammy Award nominee first entered the scene in 2012 with the critically-acclaimed EP, “See.SZA.Run”, consecutively followed by ‘Sand Z’ to rave reviews. Her major-label debut record “Ctrl” helped SZA score the most nominations of any female artist at the 2018 Grammy awards. Certified RIAA Platinum, the record deservingly landed #1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chat, #2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 chart – revered for its law and honest lyricism by fans and media alike. Locally, “Ctrl” tracks ‘Love Galore’ ft. Travis Scott achieved platinum certification whilst ‘The Weekend’ claiming gold status certification.

SZA’s polished artistry and songwriting talents extend far beyond her own projects. Her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on “All The Stars” for the 2018 blockbuster film Black Panther, garnered more than 20 nominations, including ‘Best Original Song’ at the Golden Globe Awards, along with ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Rap/Sung Performance’, ‘Best Song Written for Visual Media’ and ‘Record of the Year’ at this year’s Grammy Awards.

In 2018, SZA made her Australian debut with a single SOLD OUT Sydney show and left local audiences craving more. SZA’s return for this year’s Splendour In The Grass is complimented by two massive headline shows including beginning at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Friday, July 19.
