Technics has announced the launch of the SL-1200M7L – a limited edition direct drive turntable system now available in black, red, blue, white, green, yellow and beige. The SL-1200M7L’s tone arm is also anodised in a gold hue, with the top panel featuring a special badge with an engraved serial number.
The SL-1200M7L is designed to reflect the street culture that first gave birth to ‘modern’ DJs in the 1970s, and commands popularity and respect within the music industry which has cherished Technics’ premium SL-1200 Series turntables for 50 years.
Based on the iconic SL-1200MK7 – which was released during the brand’s highly successful Australian relaunch in 2019 – the SL-1200M7L will be much-coveted with approximately 300 units to be released in Australia, and 12,000 worldwide.
Aaron Waters, Product Marketing Manager – Imaging and Technics said: “For half a century, Technics has enjoyed the support of DJs and aficionados who have not only chosen the iconic brand for their turntables but customised their units themselves with unique colours that reflect their passions and identity.”
“Today we are proud to recognise this long-standing relationship between DJs and the legendary Technics brand with the launch of SL1200M7L – combining the powerful legacy of Technics with modern innovation and operational capabilities. To mark the enduring impact our turntable has had, and will still have in the DJ scene, we thought there was no better way to celebrate than with a seven-hour Boiler Room set!”
The SL-1200M7L is also accompanied by an exclusive slipmat with a gold-coloured Technics logo and a 50th anniversary sticker. It will be released in Australia from May 2022, via selected Technics retailers and priced at $1,999 RRP.
Other key features of the SL-1200M7L include:
Coreless direct drive motor achieving stable rotation free of cogging and powerful torque
Highly sensitive yet robust tonearm which accurately reads the signal stored in the record groove
A two-layer structure platter with improved vibration damping performance
A high rigidity cabinet and high damping insulator which thoroughly alleviates vibrations, even in harsh operating environments
A starting torque and brake speed adjustment function
A pitch control function which enables accurate and stable pitch adjustment
Reverse play feature which expands the flexibility and customisability of DJ play styles
A stylus illuminator featuring a high-brightness and long-life LED

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
