Album Highlights: 

#1: Machine Gun Kelly ‘Mainstream Sellout’ – Machine Gun Kelly takes out his first #1 album on the ARIA Charts as he debuts in the top spot with Mainstream Sellout. It’s the sixth album from the American pop-punk/hip hop star, coming less than two years on from Tickets To My Downfall (#2 Oct. ’20). The new album includes collaborations with Lil Wayne, Pete Davidson, Blackbear, Willow Smith and was produced by Blink-182’s Travis Barker. Current single ‘Maybe’, a collaboration with British act Bring Me The Horizon, sits at #38 on this week’s Singles Chart.

#2: Michael Bublé ‘Higher’ – Canadian crooner Michael Bublé scores his ninth Top Two album on the ARIA Charts, debuting at #2 with Higher. Bublé’s eleventh album is his first since Love (#2 Nov. ’18). Higher includes a version of Paul McCartney’s ‘My Valentine’ produced by McCartney himself, plus a duet with Willie Nelson and covers of tracks by Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, and Barry White. Bublé has previously topped the ARIA Charts with Michael Bublé (#1 May ’04), Call Me Irresponsible (#1 May ’07), Crazy Love (#1 Oct. ’09), Christmas (#1 Dec. ’11) and To Be Loved (#1 Apr. ’13).

#4: Foo Fighters ‘Greatest Hits’ – The 2009 Greatest Hits album from the Foo Fighters has stormed up the chart from #38 to #4 following the sudden passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins on 25 March at the age of 50. Hawkins played on all seven of the American group’s studio albums that have reached #1 on the ARIA Charts, most recently Medicine At Midnight (#1 Feb. ’21).

#6: Xavier Rudd ‘Jan Juc Moon’ – Singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd claims his seventh Top Ten as he debuts at #6 with Jan Juc Moon. Rudd’s tenth album is his first new release since Storm Boy (#8 Jun. ’18). It continues Rudd’s run of Top Tens that started with White Moth (#6 Jun. ’07).

#10: Placebo ‘Never Let Me Go’ – Returning with their first album in almost a decade, British band Placebo debut at #10 with Never Let Me Go. The follow-up to Loud Like Love (#9 Sept. ’13) becomes their fourth Top Ten album. It’s the first Placebo album recorded as a duo, following the departure of drummer Steve Forrest in 2015.

#11: Camp Cope ‘Running With The Hurricane’ – Melbourne’s Camp Cope take out their second ARIA Top 20 entry as they debut at #11 with Running With The Hurricane. The trio’s third album comes four years on from How To Socialise & Make Friends (#6 Mar. ’18), which earned them a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 2018 ARIA Awards. Running With The Hurricane tops this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#12: Denzel Curry ‘Melt My Eyez See Your Future’ – American rapper Denzel Curry snares a new career chart peak as he hits #12 with Melt My Eyez See Your Future. The follow-up to Unlocked (#33 Feb. ’20) is Curry’s fifth album and features collaborations with Robert Glasper, T-Pain, 6lack, Rico Nasty, Slowthai, Thundercat, Kenny Beats and more. His previous peak was with ZUU(#18 Jun. ’19).

#1: Glass Animals ‘Heat Waves’ – Glass Animals’ ‘Heat Waves’ hits eleven weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The British band’s single joins Bryan Adams’ ’Everything I Do (I Do It For You)’ (#1 Jul. ’91), Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ (#1 Nov. ‘96), Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’ (#1 Feb. ’18), The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ (#1 Jan. ’20) and 24kGoldn’s ‘Mood’ (#1 Oct. ’20) as eleven week chart-toppers.

#18: AnnenMayKantereit & Giant Rooks ‘Tom’s Diner’ – German groups AnnenMayKantereit and Giant Rooks make their ARIA Charts debut with their cover of Suzanne Vega’s ‘Tom’s Diner’. First released in 2019, the track has recently gone viral via TikTok, where it’s reached 10 million views. First released by Vega in 1987, ‘Tom’s Diner’ hit #8 in November 1990 thanks to a remix by British duo DNA.

#26: Brothers & Joel Fletcher ‘Let’s Trot!’ – A week on from debuting at #40, ‘Let’s Trot!’ by drill duo Brothers and Melbourne DJ/producer Joel Fletcher climbs 14 spots to hit #26.

#28: Foo Fighters ‘Everlong’ – The Foo Fighters’ 1997 single ‘Everlong’ has re-entered the Singles Chart at #28 this week after the sudden death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. Released as the second single from The Colour And The Shape (#5 Jun. ’97), ‘Everlong’ originally peaked at #45 in August 1997.

#35: Latto ‘Big Energy’ – American rapper Latto makes her ARIA Singles Chart debut at #35 with ‘Big Energy’. First released in September 2021, the track has hit the chart following the drop of a remix featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. To date, the track has peaked at #11 in the US.
