Coinciding with the first stop on her debut National headline tour, Thandi Phoenix has dropped her energy-inducing new single Cleopatra’. Drawing inspiration from the Egyptian femme fatale, Thandi explores more of a down tempo approach, asserting her message of self-assurance;

“it’s about holding your own, knowing exactly what you bring to the table and never allowing someone to treat you less than you deserve. It’s a song for all my queens, to remember their strength, beauty and power,“ says Phoenix.

Phoenix’s message is carried through her charming and poised vocal delivery, staying true to the soulful roots she draws frequently upon.

Thandi Phoenix has gone from strength to strength this year, starting with her previous single Say It’, produced with UK electronic powerhouse Sigma and received an add to full rotation across triple j and across commercial radio. Phoenix then wowed radio audiences and critics alike around the country, taking on Portishead’s ‘Glory Box’ for triple j’s Like A Version. Accompanied by nothing short of strings, horns, bass, keys and drums, this combination provided the perfect platform to showcase an incredible vocal delivery by Thandi.

Adding another feather to the bow this year, Thandi has also been chosen to play at Australia’s premiere music festival, Splendour in the Grass, alongside the likes of Chance The Rapper, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino and SZA. At just 25, the singer-songwriter has been hailed as “one of Australia’s most significant new talents”, with songs that blend pop with electronica and raw, honest storytelling.

Thandi’s music flourishes effortlessly combining influences of neo-soul on singles like ‘Come Around’, lashings of UK Garage and Drum-and-bass in ‘Standing Too Close’, ‘Tell Me Where The Lovers Have Gone’ and ‘My Way’ and her love of a pure dancefloor banger evident in recent single ‘Say It’.

In ‘Cleopatra’, Thandi continues to prove herself as force to be reckoned with and one of the most exciting women in Australian music right now.
