Today The Lazy Susans announce they will be heading off around the country through October in support of forthcoming debut album Now That The Party’s Over.

Coupled with the announcement is the release of new single ‘Care About Yourself’. Though lyrically the track is a call for a dear mate to start prioritising themselves, it’s also a lesson in vocal harmony. The way that the multiple vocal parts resonate with one another is one of the most enriching experiences o the album. The song reaches its climax with an anthemic and memorable gang vocal drilling home the song’s message: “Care about yourself”.

True misnomers are hard to come by, The Lazy Susans are one to behold. Since blossoming in 2017 the group have been tirelessly touring their motherland. The Lazy Susans have built an impenetrable foothold in Australia and the list of artists they have performed with live reads like the dream festival line-up of any music lover (Tigers Jaw, Millencolin, Sløtface, Press Club, AJJ, WAAX, North East Party House, Jeff Rosenstock, The Hard Aches, The Bennies, Frenzal Rhomb et al.). As an aside, they themselves have been featured at a handful of Australia’s best festivals (Yours & Owls, ‘Til The Wheels Fall Off, Pool House Party).

The debut full-length, out August 2nd on Resist Records, was put to tape with Sam Johnson at Holes and Corners and mastered by Steve Smart of Studios 301. Now That The Party’s Over reiterates over and again a compassion and looking out for one’s others. The theme is care. The theme is love. The theme is introverted emotion. And if FedEx, UPS and Australia Post could, they would harness a delivery as pure, accurate and as on time as Antonia Susan.

Now That The Party’s Over witnesses The Lazy Susans’ songwriting – oft described as ‘heart-on-sleeve’ – evolve into true heart-on-fingertip rock. The fragility, vulnerability, compassion and humanity that seeps from the grooves of this record is sticky and will affect even the most stubborn of souls.
