The Pleasures burst on to the scene in 2022. Having released three singles in the Australian market so far, The Beginning of the End, Every Story Has Two Sides and Paranoid, The Pleasures showcased a cocktail of styles indicative of what the album promised, which has seen them wonderfully supported by radio right around the country to date.
The band is fronted by renowned singer-songwriter Catherine Britt – mother, breast cancer survivor, multi-Golden Guitar winner, multi-ARIA nominee and youngest ever Australian Grand Old Opry performer AND Melbourne’s Lachlan Bryan – modern day troubadour, songwriter’s songwriter, Golden Guitar winner and consummate story-teller. Together they bring all of their experience and humanity – as well as two of the most authentic and character-filled voices you’ll hear this or any other year.

The name The Pleasures is taken from a brothel(!) in Austin, Texas – where Britt and Bryan found themselves stranded (through no intention of their own, they hasten to add) on the night they first met. The bawdy nature of this first encounter is befitting of the music they would go on to make together.
Not for the faint-of-heart, The Pleasures’ debut album plots the lifespan of a fiery relationship from the start, through to the finish and the aftermath. But despite the fire, passion and impulsiveness, the songs are decidedly adult – tackling the complexities and messiness of grown-up attraction and separation.
Aided by Damian Cafarella (bass) and Brad Bergen (drums), The Pleasures produce a sound that is raucous, dirty and blues-inspired, yet occasionally interrupted by delicate moments of sublime country-folk. They might get called a country band, but there’s as much Jack White influence here as there is George Jones (in fact there’s plenty of both), alongside the plethora of mythologised girl-boy country acts with whom they will inevitably draw comparison.
“Lachlan and I have always clicked in life and in song” explains Catherine, “and we’ve always had an unspoken understanding and respect for one another. These songs flowed out of us so easily. I want more honest, real music in the world and I couldn’t think of a better person to make it with!”
Lachlan adds “it was almost frightening how easily we found we could write together. Catherine has no filter, and she destroyed mine pretty much immediately. These songs are raw and honest – if a line didn’t ring true then it didn’t make the cut. The playing is tough and primitive – we’re outside our comfort zones and revelling in it. Oh and I get to harmonise with Catherine – which is something I feel like I was born to do”.

The Beginning of the End was produced by The Pleasures, engineered, and mixed by Damien Cafarella at EoR Studios in Melbourne and mastered by Alex McCollough at True East Mastering in Nashville.
The Pleasures will launch the album live in Melbourne, Sydney and at The Gympie Muster, before embarking on an eleven-date tour of the USA in September returning to Australia in October to perform at the Groundwater Country Music Festival.
The Pleasures’ debut album The Beginning of the End is out now – available digitally and on CD / VINYL (MGM).

About Catherine Britt
“She’s The Real Deal”, proclaimed Elton John after discovering Catherine Britt’s debut album Dusty Smiles and Heartbreak Cures on an Australian tour in the early 2000s.
He requested a meeting with the young singer, and before long they had released a duet together through RCA Nashville – the first of three Billboard Top 40 singles that Catherine would go on to have with the iconic label.
At just 17 Britt became the youngest Australian to perform on The Grand Ol’ Opry (she’s since played it a further fifteen times) and over the next decade she worked and toured extensively with the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Don McLean, Iris Dement, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban & Jim Lauderdale.
At age 30 Catherine was diagnosed with stage 2A triple negative breast cancer, which she successfully fought off with chemotherapy. She remains a strong advocate for young women’s breast cancer awareness and even released the Golden Guitar winning song F U Cancer to publicise the cause.
Catherine has released 8 studio albums to date, winning 6 Golden Guitars, a CMA international artist of the year award and scoring 6 Aria Award Nominations. She is the mother of young children and lives in Newcastle, NSW – not far from where she grew up.
About Lachlan Bryan
Born and bred in Frankston, Victoria, Lachlan Bryan is a singer/songwriter/producer and award-winning artist (Golden Guitar and Music Victoria Awards).
In a sense Lachlan flies under the radar, but among critics and his peers he’s known as a ‘got-to’ songwriter and superior storyteller, with popular blog No Depression labelling him “one of the finest songwriters in the the world today” and respected music journalist Bernard Zuel praising his “ear for the line between cynicism and realism”.
Born into a musical family with a healthy dose of Gypsy blood, nights at home as a kid for Lachlan often included an orchestra rehearsing in the living room and a chorus line of dancers devising routines in the backyard.
Lachlan and his band The Wildes have become festival favourites in Australia, the UK and Europe, and have joined the likes of Lord Huron, John Hiatt, Shawn Colvin, Justin Townes Earle, Joe Pug and many more on tour.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
