The Rions enter their next phase with ‘Sweet Cocoon’, arriving with the announcement of their latest national tour supported by Blusher and Park Rd across late May/early June. Tickets are on-sale this Friday April 19 from 9AM local time. LISTEN HERE + BUY TICKETS HERE.

Following another breakout year with their lovable debut EP Minivan, The Rions new release channels the stroppy in a sharp-tongued admission of self-preservation. Swinging on a coarse, near grunge guitar riff, ‘Sweet Cocoon’ symbolises the shield we employ in the moments that try us, the defences we utilise to push through. Self-assured against doubt or angst, ‘Sweet Cocoon’ trickles with nods to Room On Fire and AM, The Rions boast newfound grit in their unapologetic anthem.

In their words, The Rions share “Our new track Sweet Cocoon is an ode to bitterness. There’s something beautiful about changing who you are in order to distance yourself from who you were, and we attempted to capture that in this song. We hope you can scream it at the top of your lungs as a ‘f*ck you’ to that certain someone or something in your life. Whether you need a cocoon right now, or you’re already as badass as you want to be, Sweet Cocoon will make you sure of it.”

Through their debut EP, The Rions leaped from ‘ones to watch’ to in-demand status thanks to the steady worship of their audience and industry alike. Landing #38 (Minivan), #40 (Scary Movies) and #71 (Take What You Want) in their third year of Hottest 100 entries, Minivan sought enduring praise. Rolling Stone Award nominations, back to back sell out tours from Melbourne’s Corner Hotel to Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, praise across the ABC’s triple j, Unearthed and RAGE to their international debut conquering festivals and headline shows across Aotearoa / New Zealand earlier this year.

Backed by a clear drive for consistent evolution The Rions continue to rise. Experience the fever across the Sweet Cocoon Tour – all tour routing details below.

About THE RIONS

First forming back in high school where they took to talent shows encouraged by their music teacher Mr. Stone (father to Northern Beaches musical royalty Angus & Julia), Noah Blockley, Harley Wilson, Asher McLean, and Tom Partington went on to upload their single ‘Night Light’ to triple j Unearthed. From there the band went on to take out the winning prize for Unearthed High in 2021 which catapulted them to national recognition. Earning their badge as ‘ones to watch’, The Rions continue to turn heads. Embarking on their first ever headline tour in Aug/Sep 2022 their spin on indie-rock saw the teenagers sell out all nine shows weeks in advance. The shows solidified a loyal fanbase of their own, citing influence from Arctic Monkeys, Dayglow, Spacey Jane, Lime Cordiale and The Beatles, their sound has cultivated 27 million streams across DSPs worldwide from their catalogue including ‘Sadie’, ‘Halfway Out’ and ‘Head Still Hurts’ followed by‘Disassociation’ and ‘Anakin’, each stronger than the last. 2023 kicked off a period of steady touring for The Rions, supporting Lime Cordiale, Boy & Bear, Pacific Avenue to festival appearances at Grapevine The Gathering, Yours & Owls, SPIN OFF, Party In The Paddock, Festival of the Sun and others.
