DMAs

With their highly anticipated third album, THE GLOW, out Friday 10 July, Sydney trio DMA’S are set to deliver their biggest and best record yet. Ever since they dropped the now-iconic ‘Delete’ in 2014, DMA’S have smashed it: millions of streams, massive headline shows – including a recent sold-out Brixton Academy, where 5,000 tickets sold in under 24 hours – and much more. Watch them perform ‘The Glow’ at that very show here.

.

Frente

Melbourne indie wordsmiths FRENTE created some of Australia’s best alternative folk pop in the 1990’s with their iconic singles ‘Ordinary Angels’‘Accidentally Kelly Street’, and debut Marvin The Album, which hit #5 on the ARIA charts. Meanwhile their cover of New Order’s ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’ was a global radio smash hit. Tune into The State of Music this week to catch Angie Hart and Simon Austin, together with some very special guests, performing a Frente classic.

.

Jack Gray

With over 10 million streams to date via tracks ‘Fools’, ‘Down Side of Up’ and ‘My Hands’, Los Angeles-via-Sunshine Coast singer / songwriter / producer, JACK GRAY is on the rise. As heard on his debut EP Nights Like This, Gray is an old-school artist in a modern era, having won fans’ hearts with his Instagram covers of acts such as Bon Iver and Mumford and Sons, and support slots with names like Mahalia, Maisie Peters, Dean Lewis and E^st. His new single ‘I GOT 3’ is released Friday 19 June.

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

Melbourne guitar-pop five-piece ROLLING BLACKOUTS COASTAL FEVER knocked it out of the park with their 2018 debut Hope Downs, which met with worldwide critical acclaim and saw the band sell out shows across the globe. This Friday, the band will celebrate the release of their new record, Sideways To New Italy. We’re thrilled to have RBCF performing this week, on release day no less. Take a listen to current single ‘Falling Thunder’.

.

Stella Donnelly

Perth songwriter STELLA DONNELLY is a proud, self-proclaimed stirrer. Her electrifying 2019 debut album, Beware of the Dogs, is 13 tracks of charm and razor-sharp wit, as evidenced on affecting singles ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ and ‘Tricks’. Her captivating sound won fans across the globe, with everyone from Pitchfork to The Guardian and beyond praising her musical charms. We’re stoked to have Stella perform on this week’s episode of The State of Music.

The Cat Empire

Melbourne’s THE CAT EMPIRE are adored the world over. 2019 saw the genre-embracing outfit deliver their eighth studio album, Stolen Diamonds, which debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album chart. The band have performed literally hundreds of world class shows, both here at home and abroad across Europe and North America plus festival stages such as Glastonbury and Bonnaroo. The Cat Empire are a musical success story that continues to be written.

.

The Temper Trap

Their breakout anthem ‘Sweet Disposition’, taken from debut album Conditions – was a mammoth success: 5x Platinum sales in Australia, 3x Platinum in the UK, Platinum in the US (1 million+), 225 million streams and counting on Spotify. That was just the beginning. THE TEMPER TRAP are one of Australia’s biggest acts, and now the multi-ARIA winners and Brit Award nominees join us on The State of Music for a very special performance.

.

Violent Soho

Brisbane four-piece VIOLENT SOHO scored their second #1 ARIA Album debut with their fifth release, April’s Everything Is A-OK, led by single ‘Vacation Forever’. It’s the first new music from the band since 2016’s Gold-certified WACO, which scored 2 x ARIAs, an AIR Award, a triple j Feature Album, and the #1 position on the iTunes Album chart. With 16 years of hard work and a fiercely loyal fanbase behind them, Violent Soho are masters of their game.
