Mushroom Group are pleased to deliver the second instalment of The State of Music – INTRODUCING series. The streaming initiative supports and champions Victorian developing artists as well as providing a viewing platform for new music lovers across all genres.

Each line-up for The State of Music – INTRODUCING has been thoughtfully pieced together by Artist Curators Andrew Mackie and Louis Schlaghecke (Mushroom Group) who Michael Gudinski entrusted to research more than 100 musicians across Victoria before selecting the series’ twelve featured artists.

The four-episode series, developed in partnership with the Victorian Government as part of Victoria Together, kicked off last Friday 21 August, Episode Two is viewable on the Victoria Together FacebookYouTube and website this Friday from 7.30pm AEST.

The series has received great support across Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit and Triple M Networks. Live on air with Mushroom Group Chairman, Michael Gudinski, Triple M Hot Breakfast host, Eddie McGuire, committed to playing one performance from each episode of The State of Music – INTRODUCING on the original “home of rock”.

The Hit Network and Melbourne’s The Fox will also provide on-air local support to one performer from each episode. In response to Jess Hitchcock’s cover performance on Episode One of Vance Joy’s ‘Lay It On Me’, The Hit Network’s Ash London, host of nightly music show Ash London Live,  said she “highly recommends you get around this series…three new artists, a really good way to bring back some of that magic that we’re missing because we can’t really go out to gigs.”

Every episode features one original and one cover performance from three exciting and emerging Victorian talents, each introduced by a fellow respected and established performer. Music fans should tune in for their second fix of Victorian music discovery!

Multitalented, Melbourne local Alex Lahey introduces us to Nancie Schipper, who with her indie rock-meets-pop sounds opened for Lahey herself on The Best of Luck Club regional tour last year. From triple j Unearthed High Finalist to a showcase at BIGSOUND, Schipper’s credentials and experience are far beyond those of your average 19-year-old. Big crunchy chords, intelligent lyrics and infectious melodies, Schipper’s catalogue will get you dancing.

Iconic You Am I frontman Tim Rogers is introducing Pollyman, a dynamic performer who takes inspiration from the 70s to build power-pop tracks for today. George Carroll Wilson’s solo project combines a powerful blend of rock & roll and glam rock & soul, with defiant and polished songwriting and performances.

Australia’s most revered sisters Vika & Linda introduce us to 22-year-old indie-popper Kee’ahn. With an impressive resume already under her belt, having performed at Laneway Festival, Golden Plains Festival, St Kilda Festival, BIGSOUND, Splendour In The Grass Forum and Dark Mofo, Kee’ahn honours her name and ancestors through soulful music, weaving lush melodies and lyrics reminiscent of heartbreak and healing.

The second of four episodes of The State of Music – INTRODUCING streams this Friday 28 August from 7:30pm via the Victoria Together FacebookYouTube and website together.vic.gov.au
