The biggest event on the music collector’s calendar, Record Store Day is rolling into town for its 15th year on Saturday 23 April 2022, and it’s gearing up to be another jam-packed day celebrating the indie record store. Back in February, the Official Record Store Day Release list was announced with exclusive RSD titles from some huge names including Taylor Swift, Nick Cave, John Williams and stacks more international artists. Now in the lead up to this weekend’s festivities, Record Store Day Australia are thrilled to reveal the addition of beloved triple j Like A Version covers by local legends The Wiggles, Amy Shark, Ocean Alley, Middle Kids, Genesis Owusu and Triple One. With hundreds of exclusive titles penned for the 2022 RSD Release List, it’s time to start finalising your wish-lists and getting in touch with your local participating store about stock availability and what they have planned for the big day this Saturday.

After a massive Hottest 100 countdown in January, National broadcaster triple j recently revealed they will no longer be releasing the coveted Hottest 100 compilation CDs. However, in some truly exciting Record Store Day news, it has been revealed that a hand-picked selection of some of the broadcaster’s most beloved Like A Version covers of the past 12 months will be pressed to vinyl in a limited run of exclusive RSD drops for Record Store Day 2022. This includes the famed 2021 Hottest 100 winner and highest ranking Like A Version cover of all time, ‘Elephant’ by Tame Impala as covered by The Wiggles. The instant Australian classic will be joined by AMP winner Genesis Owusu with his cover of ‘Anarchy In The UK’, Ocean Alley’s Pink Floyd medley of ‘Breathe/Comfortably Numb/Money’, Amy Shark’s performance of ‘Sugar, We’re Going Down’, Triple One’s take on Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Time After Time’ and Middle Kids covering Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘drivers licence’. Each 7’’ single will also feature a b-side of the artists’ own original track performed live from the triple j studios. These records are destined to sell out so be sure to contact your local store for stock today!
