The 1975: Australia is in love with you

Ocean Alley and The Red Hot Chili Peppers make debuts

.

The 1975.

The 1975’s Being Funny In A Foreign Language debuts at the top of the Albums Chart this week, while Sam Smith and Kim Petras hold #1 on the Singles Chart for a fourth consecutive week.

Being Funny In A Foreign Language, the fifth studio album from the British band, follows two previous #1 albums for The 1975: Notes On A Conditional Form and I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. The success of the album, produced with Jack Antonoff of Taylor Swift and Lorde fame, comes off the back of the band’s 2023 Australian Tour announced earlier in the month.

Also making debuts in the top 10 this week are the Red Hot Chili Peppers at #2 with their second album of 2022, the Rick Rubin-produced Return of the Dream Canteen; 2018 triple J Hottest 100 winners Ocean Alley at #3 with Low Altitude Living; Lil Baby with It’s Only Me at #7 and Alter Bridge with Pawns & Kings at #9.

On the Singles Chart, Oliver Tree and Robin Shulz make an incredible leap from #52 to #4 with Miss You, also jumping 17 places on the New Music Chart from #20 to #3.

The biggest news of the year for pop punk fans, Tom DeLonge’s return to Blink-182, comes with a top 50 debut for their latest single Edging. The track also sits at #20 on the New Music Chart, indicating a possible climb next week.
