Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: 24kGoldn Feat. Iann Dior ‘Mood’ – For the eighth week, ‘Mood’ by 24kGoldn tops the ARIA Singles Chart. The American rapper’s first chart-topper in Australia has spent the second most weeks at #1 in 2020, sitting below The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ (#1 Jan. ’20), which spent eleven weeks at the top.

#7: Miley Cyrus ‘Midnight Sky’ – With Plastic Hearts debuting at #3 on this week’s Albums Chart, the album’s lead single ‘Midnight Sky’ jumps six spots to #7, hitting the Top Ten for the first time. It becomes Cyrus’ eighth Top Ten solo single and the first since ‘Malibu’ (#3 May ’17). Plastic Hearts’ second single, ‘Prisoner’, hits a new peak this week at #13.

#16: Mariah Carey ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ – As we hit December, Mariah Carey’s festive classic returns to the Top 50 for a 35th week. Originally released in 1994, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has returned to the chart every year since 2012. It hit #1 on the chart for the very first time on the last chart of 2019.

#19: Tones and I ‘Fly Away’ – In its third week in the Top 50, Tones and I’s ‘Fly Away’ moves up five spots to claim a new peak at #19. Nominated for three ARIA Awards in 2020, Tones and I was one of the performers featured in the show-closing performance of Helen Reddy’s ‘I Am Woman’.

#32: Jam Mountain Music ‘Light A Candle’ – Tasmanian-based Jam Mountain Music make their ARIA Singles Chart debut with ‘Light A Candle’. The Christmas song has been released to raise money for the charity Act For Kids.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: AC/DC ‘PWR/UP’ – AC/DC’s PWR/UP takes out its third consecutive week at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It becomes the legendary Australian rock band’s longest run at #1, taking over from Live (#1 Nov. ’92).

#2: Powderfinger ‘Unreleased (1998 – 2010)’ – Releasing Unreleased (1998 – 2010), Powderfinger score their ninth Top Ten album on the ARIA Charts. The compilation of tracks from the iconic Brisbane band’s archives is their first album of new music since Golden Rule (#1 Nov. ’09). Earlier this year, the band re-entered the chart at #2 with the 20th Anniversary Edition of Odyssey Number Five (#1 Sept. ’00). They also reformed for the livestreamed charity performance, One Night Lonely. Unreleased (1998 – 2010) is #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#3: Miley Cyrus ‘Plastic Hearts’ – Miley Cyrus takes out her sixth Top Ten as she releases seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts. Cyrus’ first album since Younger Now (#2 Oct. ’17) features the singles ‘Midnight Sky’ and ‘Prisoner’, as well as collaborations with Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Dua Lipa, among others. Between albums, Cyrus released the EP She Is Coming (#10 Jun. ’19).

#10: Andrea Bocelli ‘Believe’ – In its third week in the Top 50, Andrea Bocelli’s Believe jumps up 14 spots to hit #10. It becomes the Italian tenor’s eighth Top Ten album on the ARIA Albums Chart. His first Top Ten was with Romanza (#2 Sept. ’98).

#23: Spacey Jane ‘No Way To Treat An Animal’ – Fremantle band Spacey Jane score their second Top 50 entry for 2020 with No Way To Treat An Animal. The band’s debut EP from 2017 makes its Top 50 debut now on the back of its first issue on vinyl. In June this year, Spacey Jane charted with their debut album Sunlight (#2 Jun. ’20).
