One of Australia’s most loved brother-sister outfits, Tinpan Orange, have returned from a global tour and will take to the stage at Hawthorn Arts Centre on Friday 23 February. The ethereal and mesmerising Emily Lubitz is at the helm, joined by her brother, guitarist Jesse Lubitz and violin virtuoso Alex Burkoy.
Tinpan Orange’s heavily stylised dark-folk-country music combines the highest levels of song-craft with an aching, sweeping romanticism.
The band returns home to Melbourne for their first performance after launching the new single Wanderers, while writing and recording new works throughout 2017 and touring globally. Audiences can expect classics from their critically acclaimed albums, Over The Sun (2012), Love is a Dog (2016), as well some new tracks.
The hugely successful Over The Sun album saw the band win Triple J Unearthed 2013 with their catchy folk-pop single Barcelona. The band received further mainstream attention after Emily’s voice was used on the famous Metro advertisement and one of the greatest viral sensations, Dumb Ways to Die (2013).
