A fierce, undeniable ball of energy wielding hooks to burn, Swedish future-pop sensation Tove Styrke is poised to justify the hype as she makes her debut visit to Australian shores this April with two East Coast shows.

Fresh from being hand-picked to support Lorde on her American arena tour, Tove Styrke will land Down Under on the back of a whirlwind 6 months that has seen a breathtaking transformation from electro curiosity to viral phenomenon. Her tracks Say My Name and Mistakes have clocked up millions of Spotify streams, earning endorsements from the likes of Lena Dunham and Sam Smith and creating feverish anticipation for her upcoming third record Sway (set to be released only weeks after this tour takes place), which features her current single Changed My Mind.

2015’s Kiddo was her latest release with its biting singles Borderline and the self-explanatory Even If I’m Loud It Doesn’t Mean I’m Talking To You, showcasing a relentless attitude towards her developing song-craft. Named after Uma Thurman’s man-eating assassin character in Kill Bill, the record paved the way for several world tours and an appearance on Late Night with Seth Myers in the US.

Standing at the precipice and ready to explode, Tove Styrke’s next move was to whip out Say My Name – a track that Entertainment Weekly described as one of the most daring pop songs of 2017. Accompanied by a kaleidoscopic video and an unforgettable hook (you know the one: wear it out like a sweater that you love / spill it out like a drink you should have skipped) the track went straight to #1 on Hype Machine and landed at #11 in Rolling Stone’s Top Tracks of 2017.

A favourite on triple jSay My Name has combined with recent singles Mistakes and Changed My Mind to signal Tove Styrke as an artist on the rise in this country. Think Lorde-esque vocals mixed with the sensibilities of fellow Nordic wonders The Dø, throw in a big beating electro-pop heart and you’re on the money.

Styrke’s voice is all her own though, and it’ll be a beautiful sound for her Australian fans when she arrives here for the first time this year.
