Adelaide pop-punk, self-professed “two-piece puzzle”, TOWNS have shared their riotous new single ‘Swimming’, alongside a larger than life video jam packed with colour and energy. The duo have also announced they’ll be hitting the road later this year for their Swimming Tour, over five dates nationally from Friday 28 May taking in Brisbane, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne and finishing with their hometown Adelaide on Saturday 6 June. Tickets are on sale Tuesday 6 April @ 10am AEST.

One half of the duo, Aston Valladares describes how the track came to life, “I remember the words for ‘Swimming’ just flowed out like word vomit because I was literally writing about my first anxiety attack.  I was aware of anxiety but never fully aware of its physical effects so I decided to write about what that felt like. I felt like personifying anxiety so I could sing to it, instead of against it.”

Aston also explains why he’s looking forward to playing it live, “Anxiety is different for everyone, but for me this felt purely like the same overwhelming feeling I get when I look out towards the ocean and see how insanely huge and unknown it is hence the name of the song.  This song has been with TOWNS for about 2 years and we did work it into our set but it somehow fell by the wayside as we wrote more, but as life becomes more and more unpredictable I feel like this is a song I know I’ll enjoy singing to anyone else who overthinks like me.”

In 2018, TOWNS released their debut EP Television, which swept listeners off their feet from the first spin with its unique blend of 90s pop rock and Australiana.  Proving they love all things 90’s the duo have even created a YouTube series TOWNS TV hosting their own nostalgic TV show drawing inspiration from the ever-popular Cheez TV that captivated young Austalian’s during the late 90’s.

TOWNS continue to deliver their good-time vibes with their live shows, having already joined fellow Adelaidians Teenage Joans earlier this year on a sold out co-headline tour.  They have also previously performed alongside The Jungle Giants, WAAX, Bugs, Dear Seattle, Turnstile (USA), Turnover (USA), Heaps Good Friends, Die Die Die among many others. They’ve also been named ‘Best Rock Group’ two years running for the South Australian Music Awards and have been regulars on the festival circuit appearing on the bills of Yours & Owls Festival, Groovin The Moo, Falls Festival and Spin Off Festival.

TOWNS have charged into 2021 with an unbridled and furious energy and you will definitely want to strap yourself in for this rollercoaster ride.
