Today saw thousands of music fans stream into Lucindale (SA) for triple j’s much anticipated One Night Stand, with the tiny town’s population of 500 growing 30 times in size to a whopping 15,000 people.

It was an absolutely massive day celebrating live Australian music with an incredible line-up of legends, including Hilltop Hoods, Meg Mac, Ocean Alley, G Flip and triple j Unearthed winners Chelsea Manor, as well as special guests A.B. Original, Didirri, Ecca Vandal, Illy, Jesswar, Kram, Montaigne, Nyassa and Timberwolf.

Here’s what went down

Local band Chelsea Manor kicked off proceedings and you’d never guess this was their first ever live show. The triple j Unearthed winners thrashed through songs from their debut EP Breathe before an excellent cover of the ‘Round The Twist’ theme song, which you just know went off.

From her drum intro onwards, we knew we were in for something special with G Flip as the Melbourne drummer and her animated drumkit Jeromo pumped up the crowd with hit after hit after hit. Some firm crowd favourites stood out including Georgia’s Dad jumping up to play bass for ‘Drink Too Much’ and a killer rendition of the Jet classic ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ mashed with Spiderbait’s ‘Buy Me A Pony’ performed alongside fellow singer-drummer and personal hero of G Flip’s, Kram.

The Northern Beaches Hottest 100 winners were always going to bring a “moment”, but none more so than when Ocean Alley were joined on stage by Meg Mac for a very special duet. Plus, of course, it was all about ‘Confidence’ for the Northern Beaches boys, who then brought it home with their Like A Version cover, ‘Baby Come Back’.

Lucindale Oval rung out with Meg Mac’s stunning vocals as she took to the stage to perform for what she said was the biggest crowd she’s ever played to. Her set traversed songs from the singer-songwriter’s 2014 EP Meg Mac, Low Blows and her newest album, Hope, with Meg absolutely powering through the title track of the latter with a little help from Didirri.

As the Grand Final winning Lucindale Roos Ladies Netball Team watched from side of stage draped in their gold medals, Hilltop Hoods closed out the night by bringing all your faves together for a ridiculously fun finale. Home-State heroes Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris took the crowd to the ‘Nosebleed Section’, followed up by ‘1955’ where they were joined by Montaigne and Nyassa. G Flip jumped up for a special version of ‘Won’t Let You Down’, with ‘Exit Sign’ signaling an entrance by Ecca Vandal and Illy for one of the biggest cheers of the night. Then Timberwolf came through to ‘Sell It All Run Away’, before A.B. Original and Jesswar rained fire over the crowd and ended the epic night with an all-star stage invasion for ‘Cosby Sweater’.
