Breathing life into Sydney’s live music scene, Young Henrys today announce they’ll takeover Waywards at Newtown’s Bank Hotel, serving up free music and booze specials, Fridays in December. The local brew legends invite Down For Tomorrow, Dominic Breen, Royel Otis, Bread Club and more to perform, while free entry and the much needed cool chill of a Young Henrys Newtowner ensures there’s no better time and place to reconnect with live music.
Kicking off on Friday, December 10, Wollongong and Southern Highlands-based, Major Arcana will hit the stage first. Hear a colossal wall of distortion, as the trio ensures their hard-hitting grooves flow well into the evening. Next up, is local four-piece Deadshowws, who are melodically influenced by the likes of Nirvana and Violent Soho, ready to keep moods high and rounds flying. Bringing the night to a rapturous close, is Newcastle’s own indie-punk quartet Down For Tomorrow who’ll bring a showering of infectious melodies ripe for a feel-good night.
Sliding into Friday, December 17, is folky blues, classic rock outfit Iain T. McKelvey and the Midnight Tangos who’ll set the tone for the night. Keeping the vibes high is punk-pop collective BoysnLove, with their world of dreamy waltz-synths and hypnotic rhythms. On headline duties is Sydney singer-songwriter Dominic Breen. Oozing with warm lyrics and good vibes, Dominic will provide the perfect ending to a Young Henrys fueled night with his infectious live show.
On Friday, December 24, singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Chelsea Warner will warm up the crowd with her silky-smooth grooves, ushering elements of hip hop, meticulous beats and lyricism. Next is Sydney’s Taj Ralph, a true talent and one of Australia’s most promising young artists. Signing off Christmas Eve will be newly minted Sydney duo, Royel Otis, laying down their sun-soaked indie dream-rock to Waywards.
On Friday, December 31, launch your New Years Eve with indie-pop, up and comer, Betty. Following on will be solo artist Poolroom, whose set combines a gripping performance-art live show with forward-thinking production. Known for their distinct nostalgia-driven funk, and unique bakery beats, close out 2021 with disco-pop trio extraordinaires, Bread Club.
Both 24th and 31st nights are presented with good mates The Music and Booze Co.
A brand synonymous with ‘serving the people’, Young Henrys continue their commitment of banding music lovers together through good beer and live entertainment this December. An ode to Australian music, summer and community spirit, and with a range of Young Henrys beer specials on offer each week, Young Henrys Presents Waywards is your chance to see a string of not-to-be-missed artists over a round of cold ones at Newtown’s Bank Hotel.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
