Previous Praise For BILLY FOX

“If there’s one thing that’s palatable in Billy Fox’s music, it’s his smooth, futuristic, soulful sound” – This Song Is Sick (USA)

“A shivering, saccharine, emotion-filled artist; the sort that allows you to drift off and relax” – The Line of Best Fit (USA)

“Where the soul and RnB artist seems to thrive most in his ability to write songs that are not only instrumentally complex, but narratively complex too” – Purple Sneakers (AUS)

“Billy Fox showcases a true comfortability and furthermore an adaptability in RnB, electronic and soul well beyond his years” – Acid Stag (AUS)

Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, Billy Fox, draws on his impressively technical flair for beautiful alt-pop, soul and R&B-influenced electronic production paired with a skilful and reactionary approach to songwriting, delivering stunning soundscapes and luminescent songs.

Following on from the release of the highly acclaimed return single, ‘Hurry Up and Crush Me’, in February, Billy Fox delivers ‘Neighbourhood’ – a lush and spirited new cut that demonstrates his knack for production but also a great use of music tone and mood.

Billy Fox.

For multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Billy Fox, effortlessly bringing electronic and R&B influences together in making an utterly fresh and contemporary sound is a clear strength. The last five years has seen the Sydney artist establish himself as a popular and formidable presence on the Australian scene – a presence he reinforces this month with the release of ‘Neighbourhood’.

Recorded between Billy’s home studio in Sydney and the infamous Studios 301, ‘Neighbourhood’ builds upon bright synths and percussion, while Billy’s vocals exude velvety R&B goodness. The soundscape he creates here is an immersive one where alt-pop and this R&B-electronica fusion meets with ease.

“There’s been a period recently where a lot of us have gone back to close quarters, spent more time at home and had more of an obvious connection to local neighbourhoods and communities. In this space, it also allowed us to reflect on and think about some pretty big issues and ideas, collectively, as a society. It feels like an important time so this song is a reflection on that,” explains Billy Fox.

Noting inspirations from Bon Iver, Frank Ocean and James Blake, Fox broke into the scene in 2016 with ‘East Coast’ where he found his place in the industry and quickly followed up with his innovative track, ‘Avalanche’, and later, his compelling seven-track EP, “LUNG”. He’s received notable recognition from radio powerhouses such as triple j, FBi Radio, 4ZZZ, 3RRR and SYN. While worldwide tastemakers have blogged about him including This Song Is Sick, The Line of Best Fit, Life Without Andy, Pilerats, Purple Sneakers, Acid Stag, Stoney Roads and more.

Over his career, he has played to packed rooms across the country as well as supported the likes of internationally-acclaimed artists such as Glass Animals, The Aston Shuffle, THUMPERS, Boo Seeka, Tash Sultana, Harts and more.

Though an accomplished solo artist in his own right, Fox hasn’t gone at it alone. Over the years, he’s featured on releases from Mookhi, Dekleyn, Houis (NYC) and, most recently, Kid Mac. Not to mention his impressive co-writing credits, which includes Jerome Blaze, Hein Cooper, Pat Carroll, Kid Fiction, Jannah Beth, Reggie Banks and more.

His penchant for collaboration transformed in Common Good – an artist-run collective of like-minded Sydney artists who come together to write, record, collaborate and tour. The collaborative body, through successful APRA grant funding, held their first writing sessions at the world-famous Studios 301, wherein local, rising talent wrote and recorded with veteran musicians and producers for a 12-hour session.
