Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you start writing music?
I wanted to be a singer since I was 10 years old. I would run around telling everyone that, even when they told me I would need a ‘real job’…jokes on them right? I didn’t start writing until 2019 when I started co-writing with my fiancé Blake Dantier and started getting my own tunes together.

How would you describe your sound?
A mix of contemporary country combined with traditional country elements Why do you think people resonate with your music?

Which music did you grow up listening to? How has it inspired you?
My family isn’t really musical but, we did have a lot of Queen and ABBA played around the house! I’m a huge fan of Musical Theatre (it’s what I studied at uni) so there was a lot of soundtracks played too.

Your new ! Describe its origin and evolution.
It’s been a long time coming! Like many artists I had to push back the release for ages due to COVID. The first song was recorded late 2019 when I had just started writing. I spent a few weeks with Matt Fell recording the album but, split up into multiple sessions over the 2 years.

.

.

Do you have any more new music in the works?
Not for a little while! I’ve been doing a lot of writing but, hoping to have a little bit of a break before getting back not the new release train.

Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
Yes! I’m touring all over the place in April. I have Meatstock Toowoomba and Goulburn Valley CMF on release weekend.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Dolly Parton – doesn’t that sound like fun?? I think it would be such a hoot to perform with her on stage and it would be great to be alongside an idol of mine.

What’s next for you in 2022?
Lots of performing live! That’s what we have been missing and it’s what I’ve been craving. I’ll be getting out there at festivals and touring around the place with the new album – can’t wait!

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?
At the Grand Old Opry, that’s the dream. It’s had the best of the best on it’s stage and it would be an honour to sing there.

.

.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?
The energy! Recording in the studio is great but, nothing beats the energy of a live audience. Especially after COVID, people are keen to get out there and go to shows and I’m here for it.

What’s been the career highlight so far?
Being nominated for a Golden Guitar for sure. It’s absolutely crazy to me that I was nominated and then again for a second time this year.

Finally, a few questions for some quick answers – FAVOURITE:
Album – Brandy Clark -12 Stories
Artist – Brandy Clark
Movie – Death at a Funeral OR Pirates of the Caribbean Place to visit – Stores with plants! (I’m obsessed)
Venue to play – No fav yet!
Food – Sushi
Drink – Coke No Sugar
Person in History – this is a huge question! Haha Dolly Parton has paved the way for female artists, so I pick her
Tattoo – (If you don’t have one, what would you get?) I’m really into tattoos if they symbolise an event in your life. I guess I haven’t had a big enough event/moment yet! Haha
