Album Highlights: 

#1: ABBA ‘Voyage’ – Music legends ABBA take out their first #1 in Australia in nearly 30 years as they return with Voyage. The quartet’s first studio album since 1981’s The Visitors features ten tracks written by ABBA’s songwriters, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and includes the singles ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ (#27 Sept. ’21) and ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ (#39 Sept. ’21). It’s the second ABBA album to top the ARIA Charts after the compilation ABBA Goldspent four straight weeks at #1 in December 1992. Prior to the ARIA Charts, ABBA had #1 albums in Australia with ABBA (11 weeks, Dec. ‘75 to Feb. ‘76), The Best of ABBA (16 weeks, Mar. ‘76 to Jul. ‘76) and Arrival (8 weeks, Nov. ‘76 to Jan. ‘77). Voyage will be supported by a concert residency, also called ABBA Voyage, that will take place in London beginning on 27 May 2022 and will feature the digital avatars of the group.

#3: Radiohead ‘Kid A Mnesia’ – Marking two decades of Kid A (#2 Oct. ‘00) and Amnesiac (#2 Jun. ‘01), Radiohead hit this week’s chart with the reissue package Kid A Mnesia. As well as the two original albums, the set includes a third disc comprising previously unreleased material from the recording sessions of both albums. The reissue of the band’s previous album, OK Computer: OKNOTOK 1997-2017, peaked at #6 in July 2017. Kid A Mnesia is #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#17: Bullet For My Valentine ‘Bullet For My Valentine’ – Welsh metal band Bullet For My Valentine take out their sixth ARIA Albums Chart entry with their self-titled seventh album. The follow-up to Gravity (#10 Jul. ’18) is the group’s second album with its current line-up. They spent one week at the top of the chart with Venom (#1 Aug. ’15).

#18: Summer Walker ‘Still Over It’ – American R&B singer Summer Walker takes out a second Albums Chart entry as she releases second album, Still Over It. Coming two years on from her debut, Over It (#17 Oct. ’19), the new album includes collaborations with Cardi B, SZA, Pharrell Williams, Ciara and more.

#22: Hockey Dad ‘Live At The Drive In’ – Wollongong duo Hockey Dad debut at #22 with Live At The Drive In. The album was recorded over two nights in October 2020 at the Bulli Showground in their hometown. Fans attending the show sat in their cars listening to the band through their car stereo. Hockey Dad last charted with Brain Candy (#2 Aug. ’20).

#30: Parcels ‘Day/Night’ – Byron Bay-born, Berlin-based band Parcels make their ARIA Top 50 debut at #30 with Day/Night. The electro-pop/disco-soul five-piece’s second album is the follow-up to their self-titled debut from 2018 and is a 19-track double album.

#34: Springtime ‘Springtime’ – Australian supergroup Springtime hit their chart at #34 with their self-titled debut album. The trio features Gareth Liddiard (The Drones, Tropical F*ck Storm), Jim White (Dirty Three, PJ Harvey) and Chris Abrahams (The Necks, Laughing Clowns). Liddiard charted earlier in the year with Tropical F*ck Storm, claiming their highest ever debut with the ARIA-nominated Deep States (#7 Aug. ’21).

Singles Highlights:

#1: Elton John & Dua Lipa ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ – Elton John & Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ holds #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for a second straight week. The track only spent one week at #1 in the UK, but like in Australia, it spent five weeks at #2.

#9: Post Malone & The Weeknd ‘One Right Now’ – American hip hop artist Post Malone teams up with The Weeknd to release ‘One Right Now’. It’s the second track from Malone’s forthcoming fourth album after ‘Motley Crew’ (#19 Jul. ’21) and becomes his tenth Singles Chart Top Ten. It’s The Weeknd’s twelfth career Top Ten and third for 2021; he debuted at #8 two weeks ago with ‘Moth To A Flame’, a collaboration with Swedish House Mafia.

#22: Travis Scott ‘Escape Plan’ – This week, American rapper Travis Scott debuts in the Top 50 with two tracks: ‘Escape Plan’ (#22) and ‘Mafia’ (#47). On November 5, at least nine people died and hundreds were injured in a crowd crush during Scott’s performance at his annual Astroworld Festival in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

#34: Silk Sonic ‘Smokin Out The Window’ – Ahead of the release of their debut album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, American superduo Silk Sonic score a third Singles Chart entry with ‘Smokin Out The Window’. It comes after their singles ‘Leave The Door Open’ (#10 Mar. ‘21) and ‘Skate’ (#32 Aug. ‘21).
