ARIA CHARTSPolaris take pole position
The Paper Kites and MAY-A debut
An Australian band is at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for a second week in a row, as Polaris debuts in the top spot with Fatalism.
Fatalism marks the third studio album and a chart peak for the Aussie metalcore act. The Mortal Coil peaked at #6 in 2017 and The Death Of Me climbed to #3 in 2020, while EP The Guilt & The Grief hit #34 in 2016.
ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “Congratulations to Polaris for their first #1, it’s an incredible achievement and very well deserved. How exciting to be celebrating a second week with a local band on top, and three recent Australian #1 albums between Polaris, Powderfinger and G Flip. ”
The announcement of The Weeknd’s Australian tour in November continues to pump up his chart performance, with The Highlights rising from #3 to #2, while his former #1 album Starboy holds at #4.
The soundtrack to the documentary Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story reverses direction, rising from #46 to #29. The album peaked at #18 four weeks ago.
In more Australian success, the sixth studio album from The Paper Kites, At The Roadhouse, debuts at #68 while Analysis Paralysis, the second EP from MAY-A, is new at #70. Her first, Don’t Kiss Ur Friends, peaked at #31 in 2021.
On the Singles Chart, Doja Cat’s Paint The Town Red sits at #1 for the third week.
American country-rock star Zach Bryan is knocking on the door of the top 10, with his duet with Kacey Musgraves, I Remember Everything, rising to #11 in its second week and Something In The Orange holding at #12 in its 60th week on the chart.
Kylie Minogue is new at #46 with Tension, the title track from her new album, which drops on 22 September. It’s the follow up to Padam Padam, which peaked at #19 earlier this year, and her 56th top 100 hit in Australia.
